Looking out at weather for coming week, plenty of to do locations on my list weather dependent
Not too bad after two days progress between other jobs, biggest structure I've ever modeled. Even Mandy thought it looked quite good. A short blog as dinner beckons soon. Mandy had her jab at Macclesfield, seemed like the middle of nowhere but at least we explored some different roads, as ever with Mandy we were well early but like me they just put you through as you arrive. There had been a lot of no shows which seems a shame but with the age group comes a bit of forgetfulness and confusion, thats just me! They were giving all the beer away at The Bells of Peover this lunch time but we were in Macclesfield and I only read the email newsletter this evening, it all has to go down the drain as it is getting date expired. Tomorrow I hope to do some family history as I've had a couple of big finds this past week with a first cousin twice removed who shared all my Irish uncles and aunts which was all a bit weird, parallel universe etc! Looking out at weather for coming week, plenty of to do locations on my list weather dependent One section of a five module building which will grace phase two of my dioramas in the new display room. It should have been a morning filming at Lymm Poplar services but the printer was playing up so I had to battle with it, then the weather came out too bright as my spot at Lymm faces towards the sun so certainly a dull weather day required. Instead I managed to make great inroads towards the new layout. It took bits from SMC, Kings Way and John's Models plus Powerpoint - that is my old XP version. However I did find out how to convert from that version to Windows 7 with a couple of clicks, the compatability mode alone doesn't sort it out and nothing on the net but discovered it by trial and error. The big news of course was that I received my Covid vaccination today at Congleton Town Hall, Mandy gets hers tomorrow at Winsford. I was about 10 minutes early but went straight in, the whole process was around 10 minutes, me who hates needles didn't really notice anything it was that quick. A bit dads army but none the worse for that, volunteers by the dozen guiding and helping from all sorts of organisations and individuals. Our friend Sue helps out in Staffordshire, their unity go from 500 to 1000 people a day next week. I will try and get another archive bus DVD done over the weekend, either bus spot ultra on Wolverhampton or the follow on Municipals with the video era early 90's survivors. Plenty in the archive for that and it gives me plenty to put on the net. The downloads seem to be having a good week, I must try harder to get more loaded on the shop. I also intend to put the news / recent DVDs on Amazon and Ebay although as ever would prefer people to stick to the PMP shop . Mandy was already booked to have her first jab on Saturday, then this afternoon we both got a text to say that anyone 68-69 years old could get some spare places coming up tomorrow, Friday. This shows how on top of the situation we are here in the North West, something had to go right eventually. It was look under the floor board day, the water has gone, muddy residue left, some condensation of the electric wiring which the sparks raised above water level. Anyway we rang them and await his coming back, fingers crossed that it just all switches on but he can test the circuit before we get to that stage, at least we have all the essentials running at present. Next door came round at tea time, leaking cistern on their built in loo in the en suite. It was pouring through utility room ceiling below, anyway they have found the stop tap by the water meter and Gary has somehow stemmed the leak even without it all turned off. We've given them all the plumber numbers we have. Tomorrow bus filming put aside due to mid pm jab at Congleton town hall. Friend Sue helping out in Staffordshire, working along side the army, after carers and at risks they go mainstream and double their throughput tomorrow. At the rate they are going perhaps it will be down to 50yo + by the end of the month. I may just nip down to Lymm Poplar Truck stop in the morning and that will save me doing any lorry film next week. Lots of places on our list. Next some shots from Hull yesterday Great trip to Hull this morning, the light was spot on but drizzle later gave a few challenges with mask, gloves, brolley etc. I'll bring you a full slide show tomorrow, just trying to catch up with editing of Birmingham, Middlewich lorries and now Hull. The great tome all 110 minutes of municipal buses is now finished and on the shop. I've also updated the DVD list and loaded more download options on. Just as I was putting the finishing touches to the sound track on the new British Municipal Buses film the news of Capt Sir Tom Moore's death came through giving me a few minutes to include a dedication at the end as without people like Sir Tom we wouldn't be sharing all these memories of the past decades. New came through of Mandy's vaccination, it is next Saturday, we had to learn fast and be quick as places book up in seconds once the notification invites come through. We also got texts from our dentist, almost a year to the day since our last check ups, we both go to see him shortly. Life certainly is trying to get back to a semblance of normality in places. I'll now have to get the Birmingham bus film edited and the two truck films I took yesterday at Middlewich. I can confirm that I shall be filming in Hull tomorrow, there should be some new buses since our winter visit last year, fingers crossed that the weather does what is is supposed to. The film on municipal bus services was probably the most ambitious I've ever done and it is quite a task until all film is digitised to undertake a volume like this. Running time 100 minutes. I need to get a cover sorted fairly quickly but with the Hull trip it will be catch up on editing day. Friday still looks like filming in Worcestershire. Saturday Mandy's covid jab. Not many DVD orders today so a chance to get them ready for Mandy to pack as I'll be up early tomorrow, the road from home on the M60/62 is now clear of road works once I'm north of M6 Junct 19 which has a mammoth bridge installation under way with yet more multi millions that the country doesn't really seem to have spare, a bit like the new rail line, unloved, unwanted. Lets remember what I was able to get at Hull for lorries until they messed the roundabout up, mind you it was a very dangerous place, Hull is among the roughest dives in Britain. We start the new month close to home with truck film at Middlewich, there were some very tidy looking rigs out there but the travellers had taken over the car park at the (closed) hotel and fast food outlet. They had managed to get a fair mountain of waste assembled, I expect they are hoping the council will take it away, I wonder if the owners know the mess its in now. The electric gloves and boots were well needed this morning as it was below zero when I started, I was really warm and cosy with the new coat and those electronic tricks and never felt the slightest of chills. Long may that remain so. Back home I was on the municipal bus film, I finished getting all the material this evening, it has been a marathon but tomorrow I'll try and get it all together, it will be a while before i can face anything as challenging. I've now two truck films from this morning plus the buses and trams at Birmingham last Friday to edit. This week I hope to be filming at Hull and Worcester subject to weather. Anyway herewith a slide show from the lorries this morning. |
