The low points at Truckfest were the youngsters hiring mobility scooters to dart around the site, security picked them up and threatened eviction. At the end I was at the exit as usual but on the grassy bank where the photographers stand there was a group of noisy young people making life a misery for all us old regulars.Llandudno was a case of the family keeping the tradition going and I'm sure it was a bumper weekend, the traffic was so bad on the A55 coming home that I had to cut up to the old coastal route via Flint and Queensferry. The road back from Truckfest was fine. With it being so sunny I decided to use my standby spot which only gets half thwe trucks but less was more and without the noisy nuisance brats.Today I managed to mow the lawns, feed the plants, slug pellet application, rose treatments etc then helped Mandy change the bed linen, booked some concerts and paid the consultant eye chap the excess on my BUPA claim. All the DVD orders went out as planned. The weather is now cloudy and cool, the big sweat was short lived. I might as well start at the end and work backwards, why not! So Truckfest yesterday.
t isn't often that everything comes together as a plan and the sky is cloudless with temperatures climbing each day but thus was it at Llandudno and Truckfest this bank holiday and we have already edited all three of the DVDs on Llandudno and the first of four on Truckfest is burning now. As I say there wasn't a cloud in the sky but at Llandudno there was a cloud or two in the sea as mist built up with the difference between land and sea temperatures. It was two very long days and of course quirte stressful with my double vision and my sciatic pain in my right leg for which I visit the physio at the health centre tomorrow hoping he can come up with some exercises as simple as those which got rid of my neck pain. My back is almost constantly sore at the moment, the leg comes and goes. I've had a busy catch up day, getting train tickets fior my excursion in Russia from Moscow to Kolumna and Ryazan and tickets for the 1st July from Kiev to Odesa. The low points at Truckfest were the youngsters hiring mobility scooters to dart around the site, security picked them up and threatened eviction. A very busy day, am I finished the last of the current DVD projects clearing the way for a hoped for bumper crop this weekend, wall to wall sunshine and warm all day. Then I got the DVD covers done and everything is on the shop here. Then in the afternoon I finished my weeding and thinning out on the last of the back garden borders. Then I came back in and made a start and nearly finished the final assignment of my Ministry course which has to be in next week. I'm about to have a test and read the paper although by evening with less light reading is hard as was typing the essay, all the squinting gives you headache. I've filed the photo images from the North East but her I've dipped back in for some shots at Durham, the best location of the bunch. WE had a bit of a landslide iof DVD orders arriving overnight and early this morning which we managed to get cleared then needed to print off a lot of DVDs ready for any immediate surge which may follow especially when I'm in Russia as Mandy would be stuck. Then I had to pump up the tyre with the flat and dash to Quickfit in Northwich as fast as I could which allowing for two tractors, a haywagon and a building lorry loading spoil wasn't as fast as I would have liked. It turned out to be a shard of glass I'd picked up in the tyre. That was fixed and by then Mandy was ready to go out with the post and then we went to the bank to sort my standing order dates out so they fitted better with my pensions going in. Then we had coffee at the garden centre, forgot to mention we went to The Crown for a meal last night, we walked/wheelchaired round, a first for many years. There was a call at the supermarked for last minute veg and no doubt half a dozen other errands which I've wiped from memory. The weather has been good, lots of sunshine after a cloudy start, temperature has risen steadily looks like I'll be fine at Llandudno and Peterborough for filming Sunday and Monday. Saturday I'll carry on with DVD editing and getting covers made plus hopefully getting my last ministry course assignment started if not finishe, I'd like tio get the last section of the back garden borders tidies as well. I've just been on to a rail booking agent specialising in Russia ex USSR counties for the excursion from Moscow and our trip from Kiev to Odesa as I struggled to achieve it online. We need to sit and look at concerts which need booking for the coming months, everything has been so upside down since my stroke, the eyesight is about the same, I wouldn't say there had been any progress thus far. Tonights slideshow is from Middlesbrough yesterday lunch time, one of the busiest in the country other than Glasgow and of course not as colourful at the latter. A bit late to ramble, successful day in the N East with a film on Stockton and Darlington, one on Middlesbrough and yet another on Durham. Anyway we went for a pub meal at the Crown in Lower Peover this evening. Some shots from Stockton and Darlington first thing this morning. There was a late upturn in the April Youtube hits and revenuwe which saw us come in less than March but a lot more than this time last year. We have had a lot of unexpected costs this month with a dramatic increase in the cost of the Russian trip and the need to pay out for our flights on the Reunion and Madagascar trip for November, as one of the airlines went bust the last remaining one we could use had it all to themselves and priced accordingly. Anyway where this rambles off to is a trip to Oswestry to the nearest branch of the West Brom building society to get some top up cash ready to settle the business credit card, normally we can manage it, truth be know we probably could have but Mandy likes a good bit in reserve. On the way out we dropped of the post, went up to Birchwood at Warrington and collected the went sheet with the extra door inserted, next use will be at Alton unless we spot anything we can fit in before. Oswestry was the scene of Mandy three fractures in her foot when she went to the bank last time , a year back now, she played safe with her wheelchair this time round. We are looking at bus filming destinations for tomorrow, it looks dry and cloudy so not too bad. Sunday is out trip to Llandudno and Monday Truckfest at Peterborough. Between the other chores today I managed to complete the Tram Spot Ultra Kolkata which flows neatly on from the previous volume on Mumbai only Calcutta is more tram orientated although there is as much bus content as I could muster. Here are the covers for the last few releases, I've yet to do the covers for the Indian material, clips from Kolkata will go on Youtube this evening I had a couple of hours out in the garden in the afternoon, perhaps two more sessions and we'll be largely weed free and ready for spring when it comes. I got the first of my two badges for my Russia trip, a UK Russia friendship badge with the two flags. We had a scare with the flight tickets for the Amsterdam leg of our Reunion visit, but they only changed the number of the flight not the timings. I've got the covers done for recent DVDs, the two truck films are edited yet but willl be very shortly, I'm trying to finish the Bus Spot Ultra Mumbai and Bus Spot Ultra Kolkata which I'm editing now. We had a run out to the bank and shop plus post office, it wasn't a bad morning but I'd put it aside ready for catching up on Mandy's return from her stay with Hil and Sean in Ireland. Tom, vicar Jane's husband popped round earlier on for a chat and make sure I was in the land of the living, it seems we have no Churchwarden at St Oswalds which was the only result possible, the whole mess got even more complicated when the chap who does the Reader training records said the deadline had passed and he didn't get miine, all my side of it was in possibly the first of all he received, it looks like an outstanding frm never left the vicarage. We had our penultimate Ministry meeting at Chester last night, I had to chase up a file which I needed to be able to complete the last assignment, it needs to be submitted next week so I'll pick a wet day and see what I can do. As promised todays slide show comes from Stobarts dock approach road in Widnes. |
