Great trip, getting orders ready to post out tomorrow as promised, I'll try and write a bit but its a busy Friday with a 21st part next door and we are helping to rig for bad weather, just in case the thunder storms hit us. We brought some pots of clotted cream farmhouse made all the way from Cornwall so the mini scones should be extra delicious. A bit tired and catching up with soaps and ready for an early night, meanwhile back in Exeter this week... tomorrow we get back to Devon and will film at Barnstaple, the weather should have settled down a bit by tomorrow. Today we filmed first at Truro and then after that we went on to Newquay. All told we have shot six if all goes well in North Devon. There was another bus can at Truro thus morning and as should always be we spotted for each other from our respective stance points. The three rivers care woman came out in the warpath as she didn't want us outside her cafe having spread her chair s across the pavement. The harrigon was a blip on the trip as was the Camborne driver who made the threatening gestures. So we get back home late tomorrow and thus blog will be Friday when we can give you some photos on the trip
Having spread her tables all over the oavenent. She is a right After our wonderful stay at at Elizabeth house at plympton we set off promptly this morning and headed west to Penzance stopping nearby for morning coffee at marks and Spencers. The weather was really great clear blue sky and blue sea. Mandy sat on the edge of the dock while I filmed a whole programme at the bus station. Probably the best session I've ever had there. Later we went on to Camborne where I did manage half an hour with the school bus traffic added to the mix. Then on to Falmouth where for a second year there was little to see! The weather tomorrow could do anything so fingers crossed. The temperatures are certainly falling but thunderstorms are possible. The helicopters to the Scillies were very frequent as twitchers headed there to see an Egyptian vulture which must have had a rotten sat nav. Tomorrow I'll film in Truro and then Newquay. We head back home on Thursday possibly stopping at Barnstaple.
A 4am start this morning, hot and sunny all day. We met up with our most prolific customer Michael from near Exeter, we did eel in the town but the new busstationloked unlikely to be opened anytime soon.. after Exeter we headed west to Torquay and even managed to get a Stagecoach tow away. Then on to Plymouth, really quiet there these days but rounded off the dvd to include with Plymouth. We are in st Elizabeth's boutique hotel in plympton which is very smart and comfortable, having a look at the Corona delay rubbish, wil we ever be free again. Thank goodness weddings are except as we have two family events in next few weeks. Tomorrow we head straight down to Penzance, fingers crossed that the weather will still be warm and sunny. A hot cloudy muggy day not much sign of the sun but we had a sit out this afternoon between getting ready for the trip and posting last minute DVD orders out. Somewhere along the line I managed to digitise 10 hours of Dave Forrest's video which will go on the archive list and easily accessed for use in DVDs. I'm minded to put something out on Ireland, London in the next period as part of an existing series this will include the rash of London suburban operators. I think I've more than enough material for that now. I've got my camera bag packed along with chargers etc and fingers crossed we get enough signal strength to blog along the route. It is hard to second guess the next moves on Corona, I guess it will be the widely leaked 5th July ready for school holidays, some relaxations are expected especially around weddings of which we have two coming up in Hampshire. We shall get some transport filming done there and the next trips to plan will be East Anglia, Essex and Scotland. Hoping ROI gets opened up to us this summer. Meanwhile a look at trips in the past to Devon and Cornwall, all very much changed and enhanced services which lead the way for rural counties. I've suspended the PMP Amazon shop for the duration of our trip to Devon and Cornwall starting early Monday, the Ebay shop is open bus will display the amended despatch dates. The PMP shop is always open and orders received while we are away will go out on Friday. A dull start to the day but it ended sunny and warm so we sat out until evening and have gone on to our fasting days over the weekend so we can enjoy a meal out each night we are away. We start in Exeter, then move to Torquay and Plymouth. Then in Cornwall Penzance, Truro, Newquay and whatever else we can fit in. On the way back we'll cross North Devon to take in Barnstaple. I've now tidied away all the modelling materials and paints etc and secured the diorama cupboards ready for a dust free environment for starting up scanning cine once more. Today I've added a few digital downloads to the PMP shop and also digitised several of the tapes with Dave Forrest material which cover quite a lot of territory from Hong Kong and Portugal to Channel Islands and Merseyside etc. These will go on our archive list having arrived at a busy time in our lives and was never fully documented. This makes the material easier to access, review and use. We will also be revisiting Roger De Boers superb Malta films and his unique coverage of milk floats., all due to go digital. Well to play us out for the week here re a few more shots from the Kent and Sussex trip last week. A heavy session at the Crown last night with Elton and Linda next door, a bit jaded this morning. Best friend Sue with us from lunch time, made the best of the weather when it finally settled to sunshine. Next week the outlook is more mixed, two days sun then two days a lot cooler but of course it could all change again. I'll put the new truck films from Bedfordshire on the shop tomorrow. Good evening everyone, we a sticky, muggy day with 100% cloud, we went to do the spring ( ok bit late) tidy up at the family graves in Southern Cemetery in Manchester which took up most of the afternoon plus pm tea at Plumleys cafe near home on the way back. I've finished a round of family tapes to DVDs for Mandys cousin and now getting ready to resume scanning plus there are now 4 truck DVDs to make from the great visit to the Black Cat roundabout in Bedfordshire. Downloading the material as I type. We are contemplating the packing for the Devon / Cornwall jaunt next week, no idea if we will get signals to enable blogs next week. We go Monday back Thursday night. We'll set Amazon to holiday tomorrow, EBay is aleady schedules with out of office and longer delivery but otherwise open and of course the PMP shop is always open 24/7 ( not by phone a 2am though!). So without further ado lets have another selection of lorries from Bedfordshire. Not a cloud in the sky and around 27 degrees, what a superb start for our new lorry film location on the A1 The Great North Road, the Black Cat roundabout a frenetic busy junction although work will start next year to improve the cross country part of the Cambridge, Bedford route. I hope we manage another visit before it goes to flyovers. Nice to see a very different mix of vehicles and a pleasure in such hot sunny weather and a Mediterranean blue sky. I'm trying to finish off a job for family putting tapes on DVD, once I've finished I'll start on these truck DVDs. I received a patch from Epson to get the new printer to work off the old XP computer which will save wasting extra effort tweaking them to work on the heritage or whatever feature it is called, it doesn't work well with Powerpoint and that is what our DVD covers are made on. These and other jobs constantly pile up. We have a printer lease chap calling in at 10am tomorrow after we are heading to Southern Cemetery to do our spring tidy up. The Hardy family bench needs a repaint/varnish. Another job soon is to get the paint to redo our house front door. I had a lovely call out of the blue from our good friend Roger De Boer in Birmingham, I think it involves copying some Express Dairy film, Roger is the saviour being rescuing several old electric vehicles and wrote a book on electric dust carts. He has an old float in his garage which worked in Dymchurch, Kent, it needs somewhere to be restored and displayed or better still used. Black Country living museum said they hadn't the space. Anyway lets have a few shots from todays trip to the Black Cat. A bit of a putting things back together sort of day. The new copier arrived and I managed to get it connected to the network and working, thus managed to catch up all round and all DVD orders went out on time and the latest DVDs all released earlier today are now ready to be sold. Just the usual tail back of downloads to tackle. Many was out with her stepbrother Peter today and the weather was just great. We even had a sit in the garden later this afternoon. We are still looking at other copier options to see if leasing would be more sound to our well being less reliant on the Epson trash we struggle with. I've just done our CVC mag adverts for July copy and I must get a map sorted ready for my new truck film locations on the M1 which I'm filming tomorrow, if you are on the M1 give us a hoot or flash your lights etc, it is always great to have a contact with our fan base. Last night I loaded 7 clips from recent DVDs from the Kent and Sussex trip, the wind noise was once more an issue. Next Monday we travel down to Devon and Cornwall , back home Thursday night. Hopefully avoiding the tourist traffic. Sunshine forecast but also a stiff breeze, I must try harder to find a way around this. Meanwhile more shots from Kent last week. |
