I had a whole bundle of DVD orders to clear first thing, Mandy is now at the helm downloading them for practice while I'm away.I mowed the lawns and did some strimming, got rid of some ants. A few bits of family admin to get through and looked at the dates I could walk to the Peak pilgrimage with Ged Coates, not that many days free really, I might see if I can get the stock in the van changed round ready for Lathalmond when I return from Ukraine. Still got things to do so here are some shots from Plymouth. Oh yes I did get the recent releases all on EBay and Amazon shops ( well except a few that Amazon keeps rejecting on EAN number problems). I also got the South West area DVD covers made, they are all available now. The clicks on our Youtube site have started to climb back up again, thanks to your efforts.
In trepidation I went round to St Oswald's this morning between my myriad jobs to pick up my raincoat I'd left there yesterday after my third round of concrete acid removal and lo the wretched stuff was gone. We have clean tiles at last, no thanks at all to the contractor whose sloppy subbies trampled it all over the top surface. It was a rushed botched job and gave us a lot of grief. I didn't see any of them there today which they had promised with the lure of their outstanding cash dangling. Anyway all a bit last minute but that part is done, perhaps I'll even get the other bits and pieces in place tomorrow before the grand opening on Sunday morning. It's a shame that i'll miss it as I'll be heading down to Heathrow airport. I'm hoping that my camera arrives tomorrow, I'm almost packed although I've still got some bits to sort and until/if the camera arrives I can pack that or at worst take the old one with the scratched lens, you just have to juggle the ISO and speed etc to get rid of it on the image. I've also done a favour job for my mate John down in Sussex, getting some photos off of 8mm cine film, the result isn't great but may do the job, chap lost his wife and wants a nice colour photo of her back in 1960. I've also copied some very interesting motor film, Brands Hatch CSMA day in 1968 plus others. I'll hopefully get them online at some stage. I also hope to recopy some of the early European tram cine material to test the market on EBay to help fund future trips. A day a trifle more busy than I would have liked but church warden duties seemed to overtake everything. Fellow CW Keith and I met at St Oswald's just before the Thursday 10am communion service, we certainly boosted the numbers and then got stuck in to the jobs awaiting us. First we had to tackle the outstanding builder task list and although he has ticked a few boxes and is half way through remedial jobs still a long way to go and it still left my having to put another coat of tile acid on the toilet floor but not before we'd had a round of phone calls and then ended up at Grasslands purchasing a row of Yew trees to plant along the path alongside the toilet. This took me way past lunch which I never noticed, not even a brew along the way and it was nearly tea time when I finally got away. We had dug over a bit of land disturbed by the building work ready to rake and put grass seed on. Before i could get away I met Ged Coates out walking his dog and as fellow walkers on the Sept Pilgrimage we had by separate paths as it were decided that we'd like to walk from St Oswalds to the start of the planned walk, by chance it is 39 miles the same as the route we were taking so that's three days hiking. Perhaps to be done on three separate days prior to the main walk. Back with the transport side, we had a big post bag this morning and we seem to have similar tonight. I've managed to get my camera supplier via Amazon to offer a swap for the Canon G7X which I hated this weekend back for a G16 which I've already had two of and have sent the 'new' camera back hoping to receive the exchange one on Saturday prior to my departure on Sunday to Kiev. I've also got the hotel to lay on an airport to hotel pick up on arrival. I'm busy getting all the weekends films edited, next to last burning to master disc right now, I'll get the covers done tomorrow and hopefully get EBay and Amazon shops updated plus of course putting the new items on our own shop. A job lot of uploads coming on our Youtube channel this evening. Meanwhile how about some more photos from the Devon and Cornwall expedition. These are all in Exeter Let's travel on to Torquay the same day Greetings from warm and sunny dry Cheshire although it does look as if it has rained at some stage, it certainly did in Devon this morning and we pottered along the coast to Somerset and even took a couple of shots in Minehead where I'd never been before and Bridgewater where I did go once and a return reminded me why we hadn't gone back. Actually there was a fair bit of activity at the bus station , just too much rain. We headed back up the M5 and got home before teatime and just about to have some quiche. I think we'll do our dieting days Thursday and Friday then I can have a good dinner Saturday before the Ukraine trip on Sunday. I'm busy down loading the videos from the South west trip and have all the DVD orders on the bench waiting to be processed, they'll all be in the post tomorrow morning. The clicks on our Youtube channel are going up again, remember its the adverts that count. The subscription channel is live and you can also download whole DVDs on our regular channel at bargain prices particularly useful if you don't want the hassle of ordering one up, just press the purchase button or whatever. So we'll start off with Guildford on Saturday, I was using a new still camera and new tripod so a few teething troubles, I hope it doesn't show too much. After Guildford when it started to rain we went to Crawley mainly because that is where our hotel was, it continued to rain so I gave up struggling with the new still camera and joined Mandy, had a brew and went to the hotel which was a good job as the pub where we were meeting John and Maureen was a fair distance away. I've got a cine copying rush job to do as a favour to John, at present I'm still downloading the cine, after Crawley it's Worthing bus rally last Sunday We can start on Devon coverage tomorrow, must catch up with Corrie now.
There seems to be a good signal here in Exmoor, we had a busy day but will be home Wednesday night. The weather for tomorrow boxes badly but you never know. We have a nice room and good food at the fox and goose near Barnstaple but the house from the beer garden mitigates against getting sleep until it closes which is a pity as it scored a so highly on all other fronts. There will be plenty of editing to do when we get home, today was as ever a hectic run ariund. This time we headed from he suburbs of Plymouth down into Cornwall,, the weather was worse than the forecast and it never really settled at all although we never actually got wet. We started at Penzance and met upnwith one of our former customers. There was more bus interest at PenzanceClick than a I had anticipated and we lingered until lunch then moved on to Falmouth. The last stop was at Truro a city which has gone to the dogs, a poor, dirty, squalid place where I got more hassle than any country combined over the past few yesrs. The stars were the bus drivers all much more friendly than in devon. I'm hoping that it will be better than forecast tomorrow morning at Barnstaple. Pictures for the trip will start coming through a tomorrow night.Click
