Tonight I thought it would be good to look at some shots I took of people at the Southport bus running day. I did see someone on a bus window that I knew! I just had a look at how many of the PMP films are already digitised and can be loaded up to send out as digital downloads, around 450. Now any of the other 5000 can also be digitised and sent out, just allow me a bit of time. PS when I'm in Bangladesh Mandy won't know how to do the downloads so forgive any slow response. To some extent this applies to orders by post, we only get a service by the post office of 1 or2 days a week.
What a splendid day it was at Southport, the NWVRT of which we are members and sponsors has pulled out all the stops to have its fleet in fine array with several receiving more restoration and repaints. With contributions from other collections the was something for all tastes and we managed to collect a substantial sum for the local charity trust fund set up in the aftermath of the awful events of last year in Southport. The sun shone and as well as enthusiasts there were plenty of visitors and families enjoying the fun. Hopefully by now everyone is aware of the amazing bus running day happening at Southport. The NWVRT has had support from many quarters including Arriva, the council, the local radio etc and all proceeds go to a very good cause set up in the wake of the tragic events of last year. There are buses scheduled every 5 minutes and no doubt arriving and departing buses will almost double that at times. There is quite a network of routes plus all sorts of feeder services. Before the event members of the NWVRT will have paid a depot visit while I'm dropping off a few films. So lets hope the turnout matches all the hard work that has gone into this special day. Meanwhile a younger generation got their fill of buses today at Boyle St in Manchester and this provides tonights slide show. Highly recommended weekend with an amazing variety of buses but I still couldn't get Mandy to come to either. She mellows a bit for inside events with the stand so both of us will be at both Detland and Brooklands in the coming month. I actually fly out to Dhaka the day after Brooklands. This weekend reminds me that we are just passing the two year mark to ending new DVD production in March 2027. Just a nice run in period to get used to downloads. Meanwhile looking back at the past trip to the Southeast , I still feel tired thinking about it. OTA meet with Peter Waller down in Shrewsbury today, still learning as I go on the actual working of the organisation. I managed to get all the new films finished and covers made and was up early this morning getting them loaded on the shop. Meanwhile it is pub night so calling it a day, some gardening to do tomorrow. I dip into this past weeks trip for the slides show this evening. Hoping everyone that can will support the Southport running day on Sunday and look forward to seeing many people on Saturday at Boyle St. So on with Chatham. The new OTA Newsletter has been put out today, you can find this and all back numbers on the Online Transport Archive website, you'll be hearing much more about our activities at OTA in the coming year as I settle in as a Trustee and director of the charity. Today I completed the mammoth task of sorting a large DVD order out and getting all outstanding DVD covers made and all the recent material edited. I just need to get them on the shop which will have to wait a while as I am at the OTA in Shrewsbury tomorrow. Meanwhile here are our recent releases ( almost). See us at the NWVRT running day at Southsea on Sunday, buses departing every 5 minutes, it is going to be a superb day out and all in a very good local cause for which we've had full backing from the council and local radio plus Arriva the local bus operator. We are all pulling in the same direction and please be ready to purchase the colour programme, proceeds all go to the charity. Can I just remind folk that we have the full range of DVDs on the PMP shop but only a small selection on Ebay, Ebay is not the correct place to put through queries which should be sent be email. Can I also repeat for the many who ignore it, I do not use Facebook messaging. Again an email will get a response. There is not enough time to get things done as it is. I had my first board meeting of the OTA yesterday evening, the OTA newsletter should be out this week, the big news being that we have secured our new premises and that collections are still arriving in great number. There are some big challenges getting things arranged now we have space, like time space soon tends to get gobbled up! I'm now on the film covering Victoria buses and next comes Brixton. So lets jump around a bit and go there for our pictures today. I continue going backwards through the scenes taken over the past busy week. Next weekend should be a good if not GREAT one with the NWVRT first running day in Southport and all proceeds will go to a charity created in the aftermath of the murder of the two young girls in the town and we have had tremendous support from the bus companies and council plus our dear friends at the BBC local radio who are really pulling out all the stops for us this year including a programme broadcast on our open day from an open topper right in the middle of the action. Meanwhile some more regular buses in Wood Green. Well back home in Cheshire after three action packed days of filming, I've still got some films to edit from earlier in the week plus all these in London, I'm going to be busy. I'll start at the end with the running day around Wood Green. Saving all the files from past three days filming was the most important task which also empties cards ready for the London trip. I need to book train and hotel etc. Meanwhile here are some scenes from Brighton yesterday morning. |
