I finished off collating pre orders to take to Kirkby tomorrow then loading the car ready for the morning and setting up at the NWVRT running day. I've also been busy saving some of Tim Murrays superb footage with sound, today it was steam in Italy, another reel on Polish steam has gone on as a trailer for OTA. I've also done a little more loading on to the friends of PMP Flckr channel, here are some shots as a bit of a teaser. I've been at NWVRT hacking down some shrubs, the whole team are getting the finishing touches ready for the Open Day this Sunday. Some very smart looking buses and of course lots of guest vehicles. We implore our visitors to purchase a programme which will have the full bus schedules and lots of information all for just £5.
I'm trying to keep the 'decks' clear and get various tasks finished and tidied away. Digitising the cine film can take ages and really each clip needs individual attention to get it to look t its best, it could be that this is best left to later, when it needs to be used in a project or gets a pro scan when OTA gets its own printer. Anyway I'm going out to get some jobs done in the garden. Meanwhile I'm putting Hampshire scenes on the new PMP Friends Flckr site here are a couple of random examples. Although much changed the Alton event is still with us and now purely a bus gathering and running day using a local college which has its own little bus station. We shall be there for this years event and will bring along the PMP stand.
The weather overnight into the day was yet another wet one but it cleared later. I wasn't that bothered this morning with the procedure to go through at the dentist. That part is now done and dusted and couple of weeks a space to keep the teeth either side from closing in and then 3 months on a new tooth pops onto today's receiver. As it was ok and the weather was clearing we did our shopping and haircut at Ellesmere Port plus bird food and then the Grosvenor Garden Centre, got some plants to fill gaps. Some of the semi native plants I'd put in which had shown no signs of growth are now coming through so very careful weeding. I've also come to the end of scanning Dave Coles superb mainly tram film early video from Germany. The best is Berlin after the wall has just come down but before reunification. I need to do DVD covers for recent release, as and when. Tomorrow we both have medicals as we have moved from the wretched Holmes Chapel medical centre to the three in one Knutsford practise which towers above the old one 2nd in the league Holmes Chapel at the bottom. So that is Thursday more or less home bases but I can get some gardening done and I hope to save the scanned cine files of the material from Tim Murray which has real sound, great scenes of steam in Poland plus Italy. There is also a set of films covering steam on BR rails up to 1990, masses of locos feature. I'm also going to tackle the first 10 Std 8 films of Paul Creswell's collection for OTA. Meanwhile I'm still adding photos to the new Friends Flackr channel which will go live during June. Here are a couple of random shots ! John Bishop is credited for the first shots of Provincial and then over to your truly!
A few more shots from the running day at Wythall on Whit Monday, now back to the grind but first a few more views from the Wythall event. I was going to film in Leicester but the weather outlook seemed pretty damp all day and this week there is a whole trail of domestic jobs to be done but I will be editing more of Dave Cole's video and starting to digitise the Paul Cresswell films I've been spooling up, at a standstill pending arrival of 400' spools from USA. We have been fortunate to enjoy a run of superb bus running days and are of course coming up to our big event of the year for the NWVRT at Kirkby which we sponsor. I met so many people today at Wythall that I knew ( or knew me) it was really keeping the ball rolling as we have hammered through so many superb events and even a little wind cloud and dare I say, rain did nothing to dampen the spirit. So here are a few snaps as the day progressed. Lots of yummy goodies for sale, I was tempted, did I give in? Well some things best kept quiet, where would I put them if I had bought them, oh perhaps I may have indulged just a little not with that carrier bag bulging it wasn't that little Dave. We are really chuffed to have sailed past the 100k photo mark on our Flickr photo site, I must admit I find the host site hard to control with its random nature of dropping out when loading, not throwing up duplicated, jumping back to earlier settings all the time but as least they look good when uploaded. Anyway chatting to people and find that behind the scenes are fascinating viewing so lets test that out today Yes nearly 100000 pictures on our Flickr subscription service this is just the first of the benefits coming from the 'Friends of PMP' service. Watch out as it is rolled out. This picture is from the 2011 Uruguay visit. Although lots of old British lorries and vans British buses were thinner on the ground by then.
I managed to get the second coat on the paths and drives and also went to do some shopping so we don't have to venture out over the bank holiday weekend. Weather dependent I may go to Wythall on Monday. Next week much is taken up with appointments, dentist to have implant op and new doctors medical plus getting the outside area at Charleywood Rd Kirkby ready for our running day next week Sunday. I'm getting close to the 100k photos on our new Flickr site so launch gets close. Meanwhile some photos I'd not looked at for a while until creating the subscription site. Two of my favourite truck places were Myanmar and Uruguay. These are in Uruguay 2011 ![]() I'm edging nearer to the launch of our Flckr site, as soon as it hits 100k photos I'll start promoting it , the 'friends' of PMP will also have other advantages via Youtube as well as access to our photos . After attending a violin masterclass at the RNCM we called in at the Southern cemetery in Manchester to make sure the summer bedding was doing ok in the drought. |
