We have cleared the DVD orders from the weekend and I'll edit the Showbus film. First thing was getting Mandy's wheel chair cleaned off from all the mud and two of the old paste tables to the tip. We have things on everyday this week , on Friday we have two , I go to Shrewsbury for my monthly OTA meeting and then in the evening St Winifred's Harvest Supper. Anyway hopefully the rain will stop sometime this autumn and here is another selection of photos from Shower Bus. I think the organisers had been a little optimistic regarding the ground conditions on the field, as late as Thursday bus entrants were told that it had been tested and was satisfactory. Martin Isles was still nominally in charge of this and next year then 100% down to the railway team. A bit a bad luck with the weather and a big challenge but looking at it from the bright side with this under their belts it should be easy peasy with better soil conditions. There have been many rallies with bus parked far worse than ended up today and they made the most with some sensible arranging. We had a bit of a panic when Mandy felt ill with hypothermia coming on, I had to dash back but by then all the gates were closed so long way round. We got her wrapped up in quilts and blankets and with a couple of hot drinks she saw the day through and I went out again with the camera in the afternoon and recapped and filled gaps in coverage. We certainly weren't up to hanging on to the end for departures. The Chinese presence was almost overwhelming at times, especially the habit of everyone having turns to have their photo taken in front of buses. The weather went downhill with strong winds, shows why a risk assessment is needed, someone's gazebo went off like a Chinese lantern across the site. The breakdown rescue truck itself got stuck which by that time it had to be a laughing matter or someone would be crying. The staff at the railway endured challenge after challenge and were most helpful, particularly the lovely lady who made a point of looking after Many regards the cold and getting drinks and to the loo. It was also great to catch up with friends and viewers sorry if I had to be a bit single minded to get back to Mandy in great haste, probably rushed past a few who wanted to chat, you'll now understand why the panic. I was astounded to find that the less common resin models from Hong Kong can now fetch £300, I assure folk that Brilliant Buses models will not cost anything like that. Anyway the journey home was in foul weather, will the rain ever stop, month after month. So a few shots I managed to get and already editing the film of the event. Anything not on the photos should be on the video, editing it tonight and the Youtube clip should be on before I go to bed. Early start tomorrow for Showbus. Next week it is Midland Red 120th at Wythall.

A terrible day for IT, new phone I cannot work it, computer had to have online attention to reconnect My Heritage to work for me. I've digitised some nice 1995 material direct from the master and looks as if it will come out really well after a dose of NEAT magic. Ready for the busy weekend, Boyle street Orange era days and then Sunday we'll be at Showbus with the PMP stand
I'm just putting the finishing touches to the North Yorkshire/ Teesside film and then editing the material from the Dewsbury running day yesterday. Then I can turn back to the remainder of the Yorkshire archive material. This coming week will be very busy with the Orange buses section of Manchester Museum of Transport 200 years celebration, possibly the best yet. Then on Sunday we have the latest manifestation of Showbus. We have still not received anything with directions times etc. I believe it is quite remote and only 160 buses have entered, a poor shadow of those heady days with 400 plus entrants, so fingers crossed a few of you turn up! Meanwhile last week down south with shots at Plymouth A thanks to everyone who rallied round to get us back on the road and loaded for home after the late discovery of a puncture on Mandy's car. Lovely people at the Dewsbury bus museum, our first time there. Also plaudits to Kwik Fit tyres, last few minutes of their day fixing the puncture and declining to charge, I forced them of course to accept some gratitude. I don't think Mandy and I are really up to doing many rallies these days.
Great to see NWVRT getting there despite the M62 closure, we took John Bells advice and went over the M62 and diverted to Oldham and back on the M60, worked a treat. Lousy weather early and afternoon but Dave got the shots in the morning so all was well. That Leyland coach is soooo comfortable, beautiful fabric on the seats, nicely reclined, I wouldn't last 5 mins on an outing before land of zzzz. The latest North Yorkshire / Teesside archive should be available from tomorrow and ditto our coverage of Dewsbury bus running day. Next week Boyle St orange bus days and Showbus where we'll have a stand, perhaps our last visit with a stand to Showbus. next a busy weekend with Boyle Street on the Saturday and Showbus on Sunday. The PMP stand is at Showbus
