A bit of a journey of exploration, I'd downloaded the Online video of Newcastle Trolleybuses from many decades ago, I do have the masters from u-matic for a lot of them but not this one and the sound had gone full of feedback type buzz. After looking up a fix Google suggester a gadget on Wondershare which I have, after a false start I've rescued Martin Jenkins narration in all its glory. Shame it took a while but I've also had another project making an entertainment for our next Polio Fellowship meeting in December. The post bag of DVD orders seems to keep going and more orders for the First bus artic from China have come in. Meanwhile I'm doing yet another limited edition film from the early days of PMP which features one of the earlier Tram Sunday at Fleetwood. The Newcastle film will be on the OTA Youtube channel. And finally as they say we are expecting to see some more Fred Ivey film amongst other London archive in the coming few weeks. Lets stick with Blackpool, I hope you've seen the clips from Dave Cole's films on Youtube today. Well I see the labourites have hammered us for a load more tax, nearly doubled when you have used your tax paid earning to buy shares to finance your old age and they nearly double the tax on any profit. I expect nothing more from them, we'll just keep our heads down as the conservative legacy, Brexit still reaps havoc. Now Irish insurance companies are stopping dealing with people if they aren't resident in the ROI but their government happily takes tax on income there from letting property. Now getting a UK holiday let type arrangement is seeing premiums near doubled. None of that would of course happened if we were still in the EU. I've got several films loaded on Youtube and another special edition with trams in eastern Germany by Ken Harris. The other works for PMP are by Dave Cole and on the OTA channel there will soon be the Newcastle Trolleybus video which came out in the 90's if not earlier. It will be upgraded to HD and available, as is everything, on download at £9. Still trying to get my head round the eBay shop I want to scrap the whole selection which is random and prices out of date, to be replaced by just a handful of options which cover the whole range as in downloads or DVDs from anything on our list. Thus a lot more is available and downloads for the first time on that platform. Tonights slide show is from Hong Kong, not long to the Asian trip now. Waking up by the awful din of the burglar alarm and not knowing if it was for real isn't good at anytime but 3am I could do without. Thus I had a sleep in and scrapped the plan to film trucks at Newark, I can go another day. I've got some shopping in as Mandy gets back tonight. I've finished editing and saving the latest round of Phil Tatt's films from the OTA collection. Another reminder that if anyone has a photo, slide or film collection we can offer secure suitable storage so that future generations can benefit as well as for research and sharing. OTA is a registered charity and also welcomes donations which can be made through our shop front page. We've been looking at a lot of Dave Cole's film from his wanderings in Germany, another source was our friend Ken Harris who dies a few years back now, his estate never seems to have been resolved but we do have copies of his tram coverage. Ken worked for several airlines and took advantage of shared perks between operators he did a lot of travelling but only in the summer months he wasn't one for getting cold. Anyway with all that in mind lets see if I can find anything German in my still collection. Still time to visit our shop and let our friends in China know you will want to purchase these splendid new models which should be ready in 2025. The Singapore model will hopefully be available by year end so a bit more haste for those. All on the PMP shop as we facilitate getting more bus models into the UK I was actually in Manchester for a memorial lunchtime concert at the RNCM for Freda Moody. I just went up first thing parked up near Piccadilly and then packed my photo kit away and got a bus to the RNCM and return mid afternoon after meeting her family and friends, Linda Merrick the principal did a lovely introduction. I had hassle with drunken/drugged up vagrants near Piccadilly, I understand it is now classified by locals as a no go area, a shame the descent of Manchester continues unabated. I did on the positive side have communication with three drivers, one I knew from Boyle St, another took my details to subscribe and I met a lovely Nepalese chap at Shudehill where road works are making it very interesting. Great to see the St Helens RT back from Scotland, exterior needs attention but under the bonnet and interior still first class. I got quite a long ride, sounded so soft and heater warm we all nearly dozed off. Lots of amazing people, friends old and new or is it new but not old, I'm sure there must be a couple of people I haven't met. Volunteers and brew in museum spot on. I'll get it edited this evening, horrid afternoons where night is falling by 3.30. Tomorrow after church and after an extra hour in bed I'm going direct to the autumnal St Helens bus running day, also highly recommended for those who are able is the Wythall event which looks to be another corker and then before we know it it with be our NWVRT nocturnal running day at Kirkby with some visiting buses. Today busy editing there should be several ready to go on to our Youtube channel.
Lots of Irish wagons at Lymm, probably heading back for the bank holiday weekend. Slide show taken from the first hour, need to do some tidying up. The road that I park on is now permit only but there is a spot near enough. Our slide show today features buses in Bedford yesterday. I'm also postings on Youtube Dave Cole's 1995 coverage of the 100th anniversary parade of buses at Siegen and trams in Bonn and Mannheim. I've started work editing both films from Bedfordshire taken yesterday. Always good to get unexpected new buses, lots to see at Luton and Bedford had its moments but memorable were the wonderful friendly drivers we encountered at both locations today. The weather was supposed to be misty or fog but got more or less mostly sunshine, thankfully both locations can take a bit of autumnal sunshine. Slide show from shots at Luton this morning. Start editing films tomorrow. Your browser does not support viewing this document. Click here to download the document. Your browser does not support viewing this document.
