thankfully ime is now not such a rare commodity for my film work and although this morning was really wasted time and effort we have plans for the rest of the week. We dropped off a hefty couple of post bags at the village shop then went up to the Cat and Fiddle, lots of snow, lots of trucks so whats wrong then, dense fog! Yes that wouldn't make for a very interesting DVD would it. We cut across through Leek, ages since we've been there always a bottleneck, we were heading for Stoke and got to the wretched shopping parade in the middle near the bus station looking for a cafe, M&S or whatever. We ended up in the only store, Debenhams which was like the rest of the place quite a squalid looking affair and ready fort tearing down. The toilets at the basement were like something out of Donetsk in 1994 or Lewes prison, ok I'm making it up here but we did have a chap at work doing pipe mods there, he was inside for 6 months they kept nicking his tools. So after we had a cuppa, well it did what it was doing when we went in, it rained. Stopped at Waitrose at Sandbach on the way back and this afternoon I spent copying lots more of the Super8 cine film including some on railways and trams. The rest of the time I was standing by the projector in the office and trying to make progress on the macro detail of the May China trip which involves several obscure industrial locations, mainly coal mines with trolleybuses which we didn't cover on the first trip because we had no hard evidence they existed or that we would be able to film them. As it was there were few problems other than reduced weekend frequency and the close of a single trolley working route. The work was a lot more involved than I imagined and the afternoon passed all too quickly. We are going to have a restful evening with the TV but we are keeping a close eye on the weather reports, hopefully Crick near M1 for trucks as much as I can get before it clouds over in the afternoon, back up plans for say Northampton if its cloudy first thing. Stoke possibly Wednesday for buses and then on Thursday Yorkshire with the much promised first visit to Pontefract and perhaps throw in Wakefield. Not so many DVD orders today, heard nothing back from email address for trolleybus magazine where the online sub renewal failed last year as well. Need to get the magazine adverts rolling out again on the old routine, keep putting it off as I can add last minute new DVDs. Here are some of the China shots in our itinerary. Comments are closed.
