It was so pleasant to see so many of our regular readers at the Boyle St Big Orange Day in Manchester when the days of GM Buses were recreated and first thing this morning the atmosphere of the garage was just like it would have been in the 1990's. There were other buses from the SELNEC era and orange was certainly the colour of the day. We launched our own little creation with the Days When Manchester Buses Were Orange, the first batch sold out today but we'll have fresh supplies with us tomorrow. Many people purchased this along with our SELNEC 40 DVD from 2009 which saw the gathering at the Manchester City football ground car park. There were several vehicles presented to the public for the first time plus other rebranded for the event. The major draw was the Leyland Olympian which probably looked smarter than when it rolled out of the factory. There was a good turn out for the event which probably peaked late morning before lunch time. Tomorrow we have round two and hope that many more people will make the effort to attend, lots more buses are presented within the museum building and their are frequent changes of buses in service, the main route being the Victoria station link. I'm busy running off more copies of our new DVD ready for tomorrow and replacements for the DVDs sold from the regular stock, remember we have several very recent Manchester area releases, the most interesting being Stockport with brand new Stagecoach buses. The Manchester Transport Museum has always been one of the most friendly of the museums around the country and it was a great delight to see visitors from China have managed to discover it. Lots of little 'uns pottering around, they'll no doubt be preserving the Enviros in due course. Anyway come along and enjoy a grand day out and relive those heady days of GM Buses in all their glory. Here are some shots from today, superb isn't it. Comments are closed.
