It seemed very early when the alarm went off at 7am, we were expecting the builders but in the event they turned up about 11.30 am so we needn't have risen so early given the hectic weekend with llandudno and truckfest. I'm now downloading the film files then later this evening will start editing. All the other recent trips have now been put on DVD but there are the latest ones which still require DVD covers and quite a queue waiting to go on to download. The builders have now finished we have swept and vacuumed out the room and moved into it the boxes in the floor of the dining room together with anything not on shelves in the office as the carpet cleaners are here tomorrow. We ordered the carpet for the new room and also the blinds for the small window, the door being of frosted glass didn't need them. We have many other jobs though , tomorrow the skip should be away fairly early, need to clean off the drive and a good swill down, the pattern impregnated concrete needs a new colourant varnish. For tonights slide show some more at Truckfest. A great day out at Truckfest with masses of material, the entry to site on a Monday is hopelessly too late and there are stands and vehicles already heading home as you enter that said still so much to see and even if you were there for two days little chance of recording all the vehicles and as ever the best time is as they leave but some will always escape the camera. The weather was freezing cold like Llandudno and still windy. Some sun at times but mostly bright with clouds which is spot on for photography. A bit of a change around this year with Malcolms having a very small display and others taking up large areas with a lot of repetition of vehicles. Here is an initial look at the truck lines on site. The builders should be here soon to finish off the new showroom which looks good all painted in a white undercoat. I'm about to edit the Grimsby, Immingham and Scunthorpe films then its all go on llandudno and Truckfest. Lots to load to digital download on the shop, photos to files and put on Smugmug and out shops on EBay and Amazon but the PMP shiop always has them first often by a month or more. Two exhausting days so please understand just a photo record from Llandudno and late home and early rise again tomorow We are now waiting for a last minute touch up of plastering by the window and caulking the skirting boards and windows etc, very much last details a bit more to be done on finishing restoring the outside fascia all this will happen Tuesday as it is a public holiday in England on Monday. I've caught up with editing working my way through the first products of May and a few covers to produce yet again with a lot more to come as we approach Llandudno tomorrow and Truckfest Monday all the usual coverage on both, two exhausting long days. We went to the Crown for a couple of drinks last night after the first round of decorating the new showroom. We finished the first coat Saturday morning. We are at cousin Mark Ashmore's birthday party this evening but up early for Llandudno. Here are shots from our stop at Scunthorpe. I'm just getting the DVD orders from the last few days ready to send out, obviously the building work has dirupted things to a certain extent but I've now got the original office back with a closed door to the new room. We'll start putting the undercoat on the showroom tomorrow although they might have to come back to complete on Saturday morning. It has worked out well with the step between rooms vanishing and the drive entrance level with that already taking up the path from drive to front door. I must get these DVDs done to catch the post this afternoon, it has been generally quiet this week or even this past month and we have had to stretch our budget a lot so any DVDs you want please get ordering, I know the Brexit uncertainty has dampened business everywhere but we need to keeep up the momentum. There should be clips on Youtube later, the style will change though, one longer one with intros etc instead of several clips from a film, this is all dictated by Youtube/Google they hate hobby stuff like ours and they don't want old archive material especially silent which means we cannot bring our friends around the world the wonderful images that they appreciate. Youtune prefer dead people, terrorists, extremists etc to harmless hobby material typical American perspective on the world. Shots from Immingham yesterday. Three films from the one day with two of them buses, Grimsby and Scunthorpe plus a bonus truck film as the weather was so bright as I passed near Immingham docks so rattled off an hour there. The new office has made slower progress today, the nature of these things is to crawl to a halt almost as it finishes, it was the same in the old day job! Anyway I can now see where the showcases will be , one will be quite shallow about 7 ft tall by 8ft wide with about 10 shelves floor to ceiling. The next section will be about 6" deep and about 4ft wide again floor to ceiling. The remainder will be deeper still and similar dimension so about 17ft of floor to ceiling shelves which at ten per section must work out at 170ft run of shelves on the one side. The much larger showcases opposite sitting atop the tape cabinets will be about two feet deep and about 5ft tall and say 10 ft wide maybe a tad more with about three or four levels allowing diorama type displays, but they need to avoid the new radiator which did get fitted today and is working pumping out heat into Lower Peover as there is neither window nor door, hopefully Thursday and Friday will see the majority if not all work completed. Today I was up at 5am and across to Grimsby, I noticed that there was no 'rush' hour at all, services seemed similar throughout the first half of the morning, it was sunny and quite warm, at home it had rained overnight and first thing as I left home and rained again during the day. Then I called at Immingham and got a nice selection of trucks filmed and photographed and then on to that great abomination of Scunthorpe which has a collapsed sewer and took hours t gt back to the M62 via back lanes and bridges and would have been quicker routing folk back to the east then rejoining the motorway west. Then the A500 near home which cost many million to build the new section was backed up so much that i spent another hour there, in between all the likely crawls were free flowing but it will always catch you somewhere! Photos start tonight with Imminghham. Tomorrow we'll send out DVD orders received so far this week, hopefully we'll be able to uncover everything. The DVD editing is well underway so a couple of films a day are coming on stream and perhaps to digital downloads on the shop at the weekend but we have a first coat of paint on new room scheduled for Saturday, Sunday Llandudno and Monday bank holiday Truckfest!! |
