It is what we have been waiting for, with the new super fast full fibre internet link we are tackling the backlog of files uploads, lots have gone on this week. We have achieved a first, the latest release on Copenhagen was on digital download before DVD , only just but a first nevertheless. We are packing the car for Boyle Street tomorrow, if anybody wants us to bring older releases to pick up please contact us by Friday morning.. The deadline for Christmas delivery has now just about passed, we will try and help if we have orders getting them away on 13th December on our return from Ireland. I was glad to get the first Copenhagen finished , it has probably the best colorisation we have to date. The second volume is underway but I doubt if it will be ready before we go away. The first release will be live quite soon meanwhile here is the cover We will be making overtures to our overseas friends to partake in our now extending range of digital downloads in 2024, again all as promised. We have also heard from our friends who are making the new range of UK 1/76 scale buses and the first pre production will now be shown around April 2024. The next one already has the grey bodyshell , but some corrections need to be made. Once they start appearing we should be getting a continuous supply of new releases.
I've managed to get lots of digital download files on the PMP shop today. Weather cold with freezing fog this evening, doesn't look much better tomorrow. I've nearly finished our Christmas newsletter so we can start on the cards. The first part of the two on Copenhagen trams is almost finished, just need a cover and a couple of last tweaks to increase quality. I've managed to scan another two reels of cine film in between all the other jobs. Getting the photo files on to a drive is proving really difficult, gave up on the drive I was sent just posting back with the first few files which seem ok but something for them to be getting on with, I've ordered a solid state super memory stick which takes 1TB. The internet speed seems to be quite good in the day but drops at night. Only as they are handy and I'm in a hurry here are the latest DVD releases, apologies for those who have already seen them. DVD sales have almost dried up which is a pressure off us but lots of bills to settle and it pushes us ever more towards digital operations. It has taken quite a while to get it sorted perhaps we never really needed the up graded computer but it is a lot more positive with files and fires up very quickly and we are now on Windows 10 for the two main computers and just XP for doing the DVD covers on plus I have a simple photo editing app on it. The day seems to have flown by, I've now got the two volumes of Copenhagen trams on the editing deck with the first section to be colourised going through the process right now.
The transfer of still images to the external drive to go to the Transport Library was proving slow going so I've moved that to the beast I edit with. I'm also scanning the Eastbourne bus cine from John Bishop. It has been a damp bleak old day, not sure if we'll get out filming but we have a night booked in Dublin and hope to film there tomorrow week when the ferry pulls in and our hotel is also down near the port. There are a lot of services which head that way which use the tunnel. All the DVD orders from the weekend have been posted out. I'm hoping to have another go at uploading to the PMP shop more files which will be downloads for purchase, I dropped the process while the speed issue went on so now ready to see how quick it loads at about 400. I must remember to put Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton on the shop right now! Here are our latest DVDs , we have paused loading the back log of digital downloads as the office computer is still operating at or around the old BT speeds, rthe editing computer is about 950down /400up. Why they are not the same I have no idea , await the new computer supplier and Vispa the cable company to respond. Meanwhile the latest additions to the shop.
A good night out with my pals John Bishop, Maureen and Dave Vaughan at the Treacle Mine at Polgate where we stayed at the Premier Inn. We had a look at the seafront this morning at Eastbourne, there were three open toppers at the pier on a freezing cold morning. Anyway too a couple of shots. Home to yet more hassle, now we've shelled out for a much updated more powerful office computer it doesn't even get the speeds that we got with BT, the editing deck gets huge speeds but that bit I need on the office computer. Asked the IT chap from Northwich to provide a solution, we can't just keep throwing hundreds of £ at it and it has been like this since Vispa came on the scene with the fibre connection. The young chap from Northwich has done a great job with a Windows 10 box but cloned or upgraded everything else which was my dream change over. The internet speed is still showing lower than expected, I'll try it on a morning when its quiet. We are at dinner with John Bishop and Dave Vaughan tomorrow night and back later Saturday. All DVD orders went out when the computer was down but I had to write the addresses! To celebrate being back on stream we'll have a treat. Nobody enjoys a good celebration more than the Maltese and as we are unlikely to go back a look back in time seems a worth while thing to do! I'm still managing on the editing computer, the only really big prob is it doesn't print so I have to copy down all the details from our PMP ad Ebay shop orders. Everythging is going out on time even if it doesn't say so! I've managed to download a lot of public domin with transport content for future programmes. I should get the Wolves and Shropshire trailers on Youtube this evening. Meanwhile a little bit of Wolverhapton from yesterday. Our office computer which was having a rebuild to a higher spec hasn't returned but just about managing with the editing suite computer. So to speed things up here are some shots from Shrewsbury this morning. |
