Still having trouble with the blog title section, sometimes it works, sometimes several attempts and nothing. I've put on Youtube several more clips some of the latest DVDs from Penrith and also trucks from our Immingham 2007 programme, they are all on the shop pages. The action on Youtube is very erratic over the last few days, running at record levels but bouncing up and down but the month of September has seem many records broken for our channel, such a shame that Google are ceasing the subscription channels at very short notice and after I'd put so much effort it to creating it and population with around 40 full length digitised DVDs. You do get some rum comments on Youtube, todays was why don't I put the clips ( ie trailers for our DVDs) in one Youtube clip as it would be easier to view, talk about missing the point! I've managed to finish the car related film show which I am putting on in October down in Sussex. I'm now working to finish off the film show on the swinging sixties which is a fund raiser I'm showing in Plumley in Cheshire, November. The same day I'm doing an afternoon presentation at the Polio Fellowship in Ellesmere Port, probably only half of it that day. I need to make the DVD covers for some of the latest DVDs. Back in harness at St Oswald's tomorrow, I'm covering the 8am service as well as 11am, supporting our vicar Jane as we try to push ourselves forwards another notch towards the 21st century. It's been rained most of the day but I got the lawns mowed. A few orders which I could make up straight away were sent out be return of post, a few more to go out Monday. I've booked the hotel for the Eastbourne trip for the film show staying in the town centre Premier Inn. I'm starting again with more of the rally film never shown on DVD before, I'm now in the year 1999. Photos tonight carry on with the Penrith visit on Thursday. We had a long sleep, I was shattered last night, the learning module at Church House at Daresbury was all about referencing essays, really effective at sending me to sleep last night but we woke up eventually just before 9am and Mandy had a coffee meeting at 10am in Macclesfield so no breakfast fort us. I got all the DVD orders ready and fed the birds, got all the kit in the boot of my tiny car ready to go to Southern Cemetery when Mandy returned lunchtime. I also got a few more DVDs burnt, had to reload on Yourtube as it had jumped channels to the redundant subscription channel which Google are scrapping soon. We went and got shot of the post, banking at Knutsford then on to Manchester. Shattered all the work there but they graves look much better, the battery died on the strimmer so a bit more work to do, the barkeepers Friend cleaner got a lot of much off the marble but it needs something with a bit more clout to finish the job. Very messy stuff plus putting the stone chippings out gets you filthy, all the mess though is at least white but it gets everywhere. I'm working on the two Penrith truck films, clips should be on Youtube this evening. I will do some garden work tomorrow and then have a go at the car films for the club evening in Sussex next month, also need to book a hotel at Eastbourne the night before. Anyway tonight stills from my visit to Penrith yesterday I have to chuckle when somebody has taken the trouble to seek out and watch a clip of buses or lorries and then makes a comment declaring it boring, if you ever then take the bother of looking at their sites you of course find that their own content is not created just copied and usually reveals the mind of an ant crawling around a computer game usually featuring people being hacked to death. I'm quite grateful if they leave our channel and go elsewhere and annoy somebody else. Talking of which it was very pleasant today to be back filming the trucks at Penrith, a spot I've used now for many years and it was always convenient as we had an office in the North East when I had a 'day' job and could stop off there, we also used it as an exchange point midway between Ellesmere Port and Teesside to send up kit that was required urgently, I had all sorts of stuff in my estate cars, now I have just my little Toyota IQ which does 70mpg and costs little to run. Anyway the point was that I was there with nothing but the super lads and lasses on the wagons, all waving, flashing, tooting plus the cheery people at the fire station nearby. This past week I'd had hassle at Leicester, Warrington and St Helens filming buses, trucks make for a relaxing diversion and none go putting things in front of their faces, ever- what is it about the occasional bus driver that thinks driving blind with a bus load of people is acceptable behaviour, any comment Arriva? I know Stagecoach take such concerns very seriously when reported, the worst must be the ramshackle Diamond outfit who couldn't give a damn about anyone. The weather was very warm for the time of year, it was super to get the sun on my back. The sun was out to start with then it was a cat and mouse game although before I finished up around 1.30pm it did come out again and was about 19 degrees, it was warmer than that through Lancashire with nearly full sunshine all the way back down to the traffic chaos which passes for Cheshire roads, M6 blocked Sandbach, M6 north blocked Lymm, queues all over the place trying to avoid the delays and causing choas on local roads but thats normal for our neck of the woods. Wasn't it good yesterday at the Labour party conference, great to see confidence in a socialist agenda, I hope we never have to suffer another Tory mess in my life, each time they produce a bigger clown than the previous, Cameroons went off the cliff and May tumbled into the seat bemused and croaking like she was the she wolf Thatcher. Its my course studying module at Church House at Daresbury this evening, another extra stint next week. Nice crowd there, a very mixed group in most respects which is a result as that is what they try to get so you can chat over various perspectives of the Church of England, left alone with ours to consider I'd think we would all need to take up self defence classes. Photos tonight from Warrington yesterday, clips on Youtube later. I almost got enough at St Helens for a programme before it rained, I'll try and finish it next week, loads on the to do list which is in the news section. Tomorrow we are hoping to get to Southern Cemetary and tidy up the family graves, I'll get the bird feeders topped up in the morning and get the kit out ready for the afternoon as Mandy is out for coffee in the morning. I also need to get photos filed from last couple of week. It is now very autumnal with damp misty morning and shimmering watery sunshine breaking through in the afternoons followed by either rain or clear sky. The unsettled nature continues as it has most of this year which makes choosing destinations for filming very hit and miss, it took two tries to get Leicester. We had quite a few orders to get ready this morning then I had a short meeting with vicar Jane on various happenings at St Oswalds over the past week or so and also the progress on my minitry course. All very productive then with the sky seemingly brightening I decided nearby was best so headed for Warrington. I haven't had so much low level hassle anywhere like this for ages, it must be the soaps suds in the atmosphere, they were leaping out in front of the camera from every angle and seem surprised that you get annoyed, bunch of yobs, too much money in warrington they need a bit of hardship again to get them off planet zog, spread the wealth around the region instead of concentrated in hot spots. The bus drivers were as friendly as ever though, no miserable devils there, Fairbrothers with more variety of vehicles are now of course low floor for scheduled services, also Howards deckers, the network services some of which reach St Helens my next destination. I was worried that it would be too sunny with shadows but need not have concerned myself as it went very overcast and eventually rain stopped play. Again lovely friendly drivers and lots of examples of the new Arriva livery on Merseyside vehicles. As it was later than I would usually have visited I was given the curse of the schoolchildren cum louts and cocky sods, some decided to have a go at me, a community support lad was nearby by the time I stopped and spoken to him you couldn't see them, they had galloped off as fast as their decrepit young egos could run. I may need to get a little of something else in Merseyside to add to St Helens to get enough for a programme. Traffic weasn't bad and I was home just after 5pm. Lets though not go straight to buses as I haven't shown anything yet from my stopover at Crick yesterday although Leicester buses is burning to DVD as I write. If it isn't Google creating havoc with Youtube subscription sites it's now EBay's chance to mess everything up. Their site has changed beyond recognition and everything a seller uses has vanished with a whole raft of useless info and menus, they think all the world is like kids playing computer games, what a bunch of plonkers no wonder Kim runs rings round the states everything they do is a mess. Wouldn't it be nice to wind the clock back and find that the terrorists didn't win the war of independence still I suppose we should count ourselves lucky to have Canada as a calming influence next door. I was up early on my way to Leicester, it did stay cloudy long enough to get a bus film done, there were loads of lovely bus drivers, hundreds waving and smiling and only one from Arriva who did the hands over the eyes bit, driving blind out of the bus station, I wonder what he was hiding from you can't see faces even when you want to, it's the glass ! Then I was going to head somewhere else, Loughborough too sunny, tried Nuneaton too sunny, then tried to get to Crick for trucks, M6 shut south bound, went round Coventry, Rugby route, got there and they had a million cones out so someone could mow the grass, bus the lorries don't go on the grass. The nice people who cut the grass left it in situ that hid the tree stump they had lopped the top off hidden, I went flying, nearly did a somersault. Thankfully only the mike was damaged yet again but gorilla glue fixes it every time. They then all vanished, finally mid afternoon they came back and removed the cones, what a farce, oh and when I lay there winded and in pain, did they come over and offer assistance, no not a jot they didn't, got their van and phone number I'll try and find them on the net and do a review. The sun played cat and mouse, not satisfactory but i got a programme out of it in the end. Tonight editing the last of the archive bus rallies which I'd already listed tomorrow I'll start on the Leicester bus and rick truck. I've a couple of Truckfest N West clips still to go on Youtube. An all time record for both hits on our Youtube channel today 72K and all time max revenue from advertising, looks very promising and I shall be devoting time to get it still higher which compensates for the collapse of the bus or truck rally market. Tonight photos from Leicester. Tomorrow I've a meeting at 10am, then may try for some local filming, also hoping to get out Thursday but have evening meeting to do with the course so can't go far then. Gardening and tidying up at Southern Cemetery are also chores which need attention. We seem to have got our lives back on track so off to my course this evening, they had to reregister me as I said I was packing it in, Vicar Jane said they are used to this sort of thing . Most helpful comment on training for ministry was they don't do a course on where the flower vase goes which Jane faced after her theological degree and ordination and her first crisis which seemed to last weeks if not months was the question of where a vase should go and seemed to over ride everything else which came up. So my crisis seems over for the minute although I'm still not at all happy being churchwarden and herding cats which are determined to scratch my eyes out. Latest out of the bag is the campaign to get the disabled access / parking sign moved, not unlinked I perchance to dream to the presence of the next door nursery owner who is a pcc member getting a respect the disabled parking notice on one of her clients cars. So back to the flower vase then which them transmutes into a photo which has no legal right to be where it is but has been there a long time but doesn't actually belong to the church which Jane thought a conundrum which could perplex even the most experienced C of E aficionado. I've done my pre course linked work for the meeting tonight and got all the latest DVD covers made and filed and items entered on the PMP shop. The Youtube channel reached yet another all time high today which I assume is actually yesterday allowing for the fact that it is all American. I got some super pictures through from Albert in Barcelona of the family on the grape picking at Gratallops this weekend which is a municipality in the comarca of the Priorat in Catalonia, Spain. What brings the most fame to the village is that it has been a focal point for the reemergence of high quality wines from the Priorat region. Courtesy Albert and Roser we have a particularly nice bottle of said wine waiting to be tasted at a suitably auspicious occasion. I think Gemma took it with a selfie stick in a break from revolutionary activities in Barcelona which is a welcome break from her second honours degree on the path to becoming a child psychologist. Back in Cheshire it was a wet misty start, then perfect weather for filming ( same again tomorrow please) and getting jobs done, we picked up the spring bulbs and bedding at the local farm shop plus Fryers near Knutsford, Four Oaks the trade people had little to offer, cleared out by their trade show which is normal. We picked up our sackful of pills for the next month, had lunch at the other garden centre now renamed Plumley's reflecting it's location. Mandy got the banking done and shopping in while I did my course work. Ready for dinner, meatballs! I'm downloading the archive video for the 1998 Warminster bus running day which will get me up to date on listed programmes. Fingers crossed for filming tomorrow, now some photos of Barcelona buses. We were unfortunate with the Austin 10 which I purchased for Albert on Teesside, the first time I'd seen it since then in the snow, it ended up at the garage. I've got all DVD orders received ready to post in the morning, it's been particularly busy today and once again our channel on Youtube has broken all records for revenue although Google dropped a bombshell yesterday by announcing they are curtailing all subscription channels in the near future. After having worked hard for months getting ours populated it was a nasty blow, I couldn't have cared less with the income as it was only just starting to get going but to give such short notice. It is hard to believe that this has got something to do with kids playing with mobile phone which they want to support. I think they are a bit too childish themselves and possibly believe some of the rubbish they put out. When the Yanks start this sort of behaviour it isn't hard to see why there are so many lined up ready to take the whole lot down a peg or two except I'm probably not allowed to say that in Britain these day. No news yet from Barcelona, I've had a quick look, it seems that the Spanish will try to provoke violence and send yet more troops to back up the thousands of paramilitary national police already occupying the city. Many thousands throughout the country have demonstrated today. I went round to return the archive photos to St Oswald's this morning, there has been a row about even touching them. These are the unpleasant people who have objected to disabled people gaining access to the building. I does seem likely that there is no official sanction know as a faculty for the presence of these pictures and attempts to set up an archive display alongside a welcome of the current church activities has met the same resistance as ever. I've given up on it and also thrown in the towel with the course, it can't be what is meant to happen and I don't want to be taking sleeping pills again with the anxiety and stress of it all. I've made the first couple of DVDs from the trip to Barcelona, the truck material gave just one volume, such a shame I would have liked more time , it is a worthwhile destination for trucks, perhaps some sun next go. Here are some shots from there. Clips are already on our Youtube channel Hello everyone, well time to catch up with events of the past few days, lots of post to go through and a pile of DVD orders to get sorted out and on their way to you. A lot of emails in the 'tray' which I've mostly already dealt with via the ipad from our hotel in Barcelona. Being our last day it was the hottest and sunniest and we only had the morning to enjoy it. I'd decided to cover the buses and one of the busiest spots is at placa Espanya the roundabout by the old bull ring which is now a shopping complex and the whole thing is near where we had the bus rally we attended some years back. We've covered in detail the trams in the city so haven't gone over old territory but did cover Zaragoza which we haven't done at all. I did get shots at the docks so the truck lads will have something. First I need to download the Bus and Coach Wales file to put on our subscription sites on Youtube. Then I need to get Showbus sorted then I can start on Catalunya and finally Warminster Running day which has 'sat' on my desk for several days. I've also got work to do for my university course, next session Monday so I'll be very busy over the coming days but hopefully if the weather is suitable we'll get out and start to tick off some of the bus locations. Anyway here are some Zaragoza shots to start with Actually the sun is now shining once again and we should be able to have a wander this evening I and sit outside for perhaps ice cream and coffee. This morning we slept for such a long time that weyhad to get a move on as Albert was coming to pick us up at ten am. He had already called at the garage to see the progress on the poorly Austin ten, it seems that I it needs anew distributer but of course for a prewar car this isn't that a easy but the mechanic has attempted some repairs with the wiring and Albert will test it on Monday. We have just saved goodbye to roser and Albert who are off to their family home at grattalops where the start I of the grape harvest has-been declared for tomorrow, it's only a two hour drive but both of our friends would benefit from not doing this work, yet more jobs for the retired and although Roser is still working it is really a miracle after back and brain surgery over the past few years. Our first trip this morning was to drop Mandy off in the centre of the city, as we are not that far away it would sound a simple task but the local government have declared it a car free day and blocked off many central roads leading to traffic chaos for the already frustrated Barcelona motorists. With the audit Mandy's disabled badge we managed to get through the road blocks and then carried on to the port area for me to film trucks. Again this is loved long detours and took every bit of Albert's local knowledge. The next shave was light rain although it was still fairly bright. It was the location I'd used on aprevious visit only much better as it was nearly continuous trucks accept when the queue ground to a halt and everyone honks their horns in frustration. The drivers were all just as friendly as their counterparts in the UK etc, lots of waves hits and flashing lights. The rain was light and caused no real problem but we couldn't stay as long as I would have liked as we faced the return journey to collect Mandy from the centre of the temporary pedestrianised zine. Actually it was easier as a we now knew how to tackle the journey and decided that we would have lunch at the market restaurant near their apartment, by now it was starting to feel like our own local eatery I'd even figured out where the light switch waxing the loo. Albert dropped us back at our hotel and we had some UK TV via one of the a sites we'd been switched on to in Malta, Cyprus etc. Then they called by to say our fairwells a as they headed off out of the city to the grape harvest. To Oreos I hope to go filming at place Espanya which looked pretty busy today although they are preparing the city fete as well so will be busier than ever but massesoffilm bus routes passing and there is an upmarket shopping area in a the old bull ring adjacent to the large circle or roundabout. Then after lunch back to the hotel and collect a our case and head to the airport, our flight is just before five pm. When I get home need to attend to some annoying crisis which has arisen from changing around photos and trying to update and group images for a better display, even as a museum at Oswald's is a pain and I've already said I am throwing the Howell in being a a church warden as it just brings strife and depression rather than any joy.Click
What a time to be in Barcelona capital of the new country of catslunya.bthe Spanish government has sent thousands of paramilitary police to occupy the city and they can be seen even close to the main tourist sights. They have imprisoned many members of the local government Saturday night through to Sunday possibly with a climax at 11am on Sunday will see millions of Catalan people in cities across the country demonstrating for democracy? The government in Madrid are acting like Franco dictatorship in imposing fines and arresting people for asking to vote? Imagine the Westminster government sending British troops to Edinburgh to arrest the fishy crew there. Last night at ten pm at an arranged time throughout the city national flags were flown a from most properties and people stood on their balconies all over the city banging tin lids with wooden spoons as a a sign of defiance against the castellon govrrnmrnt. Under Franco the people I were banned from speaking their own language or teaching it or school and it could not be heard on TV or radio it looks as if the government in Madrid are hoping that this news will escape most other people in Europe so it is important that everyone contacts their politicians to demand censure of the fascists in Spain.
Today we visited s few places for buses it got little film as getting around here is difficult, I think that the local mafia have cornered the market with tour buses which seem the only way of getting to tourist destinations no wonder that many locals are complaining of floods of tourists as they travel around in bus loads disgorged at set points. We have had lots to a eat and drink and tonight set out for a tour in Albert's Austin 12 from 1939 which many may recall we purchased for Albert a in treasure a few yearsbavk. Luck was against us as it had a problem, we tried a to fix it at the local garage who specialises in vintage cars but I it couldn't be fixed quickly so we reverted to a modern csr and keeping away fro the centre with the demonstrations hesded to the suburbs and an evrning of tapaClick |
