Another hectic day although I managed to sleep until past 7am this morning but getting up early steals a march on the jobs in hand and the DVD orders were quickly prepared and Mandy despatched them a lighter load than the catch up yesterday. Kevin and his fitter from Winning Kitchens came round to take care of a few last jobs, well not quite last there are some extra shelves to come. Most of the kitchen equipment is now back in place and slowly the dining and living rooms have lost their piles of boxes. I took advantage of a break in the rain to get the lawns mown, the borders tidied and a glass pane in the greenhouse resecured plus some propping up and staking of plants. Generally the garden looks good albeit sodden. The rain started again late afternoon by which time we'd been to John Lewes's in Handforth Dean and purchased new kitchen chairs, a new vacuum cleaner, pedal bin and toaster then on to Northwich to Waitrose for food shopping including items to restock the freezer which had defrosted whilst the kitchen works were in progress. We then went to find window blinds for the kitchen, we had hoped for tangerine colour but it looks as if it will end up lime green which just everyone seems to be having. Back home for a quick bacon sandwich and thence to Liverpool where Jennie Wishart ( Mandy's cousins daughter)was having the preview of her art exhibition at a cafe in the heart of Liverpool a tremendous achievement for displaying her work. We selected two pictures, one of which had already gone so a flying start.Too late back now to get any more things done, the Malta editing is continuing amidst all the other jobs , we have 4 truck and 1 bus so far but this will increase, I haven't done the covers yet but hopefully it will all be finished by the weekend. It's the village fete Saturday, more and more rain forecast, we volunteered to help, I hope it isn't an afternoon of getting cold and wet and setting up is tomorrow tea time, oh joy of joys. On with Malta then.. IT has been an horrific day for weather, we were well tired after getting back late yesterday afternoon and pitching straight into work on the kitchen and sorting all the DVD and film orders. I woke up a bit early so got cracking first thing, there were four bags of post to go before I started on the cine film orders. Everything is now cleared and in the post. That took most of the morning although in between I managed to edit the first of the bus and first lorry DVD from the Malta trip. There will be a few more and I'm ready to load the clips on Youtube when I ever get a spare minute. We had to pop down to Manchester as Rock and Snow had a couple of pairs of boots for me to try and compare with the ones I'd bought but just worn indoors, this is all for the charity walk in July, not long now so how about sponsorship please. On the way back we went to look at kitchen chairs, we went to a place called Ikea which I'd never been to before, what a load of tat they had, anyway we did buy a rug for the kitchen in Warrington when should be available Friday. We will look at John Lewes for the chairs as M&S had nothing suitable. Photos continue with Malta taken at Valletta a week ago I can't believe how poor the mobile version of the web host is, I will contact them once again but they are not very good at following through with matters, typical American IT outfit. Anyway the weather at Manchester was about normal for a British summers day, cold and wet, it's still wet this evening with no end to it in sight. It looks as if I can carry on with editing Malta this week as there will be limited chances to get out and about. The new kitchen is just about finished, a few minor things to be attended to before it's a 100% but iit looks very good and Mandy is well pleased. After the news and some beans on toast we are going to make a start on getting everything back in the kitchen as it's currently blocking up parts of the lounge and half the dining room. The garden will need a bit of attention but again the weather sees me up against it for the rest of this week. Next week I should be going to Essex and East Anglia, Mandy is off to Ireland for a week leaving next Monday so I'll do the east on my own. I suppose the news will be dominated by the absurd referendum which came thanks to the Cameroons, that shows what a silly idea it was to have a small African country running the show. Poor old Jeremy and David plus the numpty Osborne all at sea and not an idea between them which is actually a lot better than Boris the Terrible who is back tracking like mad and the other storm trouper Farage winding up our friends and allies in Europe. I suppose one day it will be hard to find anyone who voted for leave, a bit like voting for Thatcher, well someone surely did! Perhaps the ghost of Oswald Moseley will come back to haunt us, I despair that half of us are racists and idiots to boot . Europeans at heart we have been for decades and shall continue to be so. Anyway let's start with photos taken yesterday in the EU at Malta and I'm busy downloading all the several hours of film on lorries and buses. we had a very pleasant evening out eith kstl and paul last night
