Greetings to you all and thanks once more to our worldwide support as predicted last night we smashed through the 30M mark on our Youtube channel and the subscribers are rapidly climbing, I'm hoping to get to 20K this year so invite your friends to join the PMP clan. We try to keep everything clean and family friendly and filter out any bad language or nasty comments about anybody or anything- one exception of course you are all welcome to call Theresa May what you want! Great to see Jeremy climbing up the polls on social issues, the elephant in the room is that the Tories caused all this Brexit mayhem not Labour and actually it was Tory bankers who caused the global bank crisis not Labour. Under Labour even with Blair who was worse than Thatcher they at least had Brown who as pm was u/s but managed the economy well. Wouldn't it be lovely if we got Jeremy and forgot all about Brexit and scrapped austerity. I went over to Merseyside well actually to Widnes but the road works we'd passed and noted as a useful film point must have just been very temporary as it was back to 'normal' as far as that goes while the second crossing bridge is being built. So I went to Liverpool Seaforth docks and covered a spot which was actually in another incarnation where I'd first filmed at Seaforth, now a roundabout intersected by a lane of traffic. It worked well until the sun swung around. Then I went to some other spots, the Freeport gate where I used to get hassle from security calling the police, now I notify them on 101 that I'm there and all is well. After that I did the Cargill entrance road further back towards the city, with midday sun it was great I'd forgotten how good it could be with summer sunshine. To finish a totally new location on the road to Seaforth from the M57 motorway, there is a stretch with two spare lanes forming a sort of wide pavement or road on the far edges, traffic isn't allowed to stop so it creates a viewpoint stretching down the dual carriageway, a tad faster than I'd like but the suin was prefect. I didn't quite get the third hour I treied for but it will match up with something. I was going to Grimsby and Scunthorpe tomorrow but the expected sunshine now seems to be off the agenda,. A whole load of new Arriva deckers are on Merseyside in the new livery, looked much better. We just seem to go from strength to strength and it is heartening to see us about to achieve 30 million hits on our Youtube channel. Recent revision by Google to the site mean that more monetorised visits are made which create revenue for Google and ourselves. This means that we can invest in more and more exciting journeys to many parts of the globe and nearer home constantly breaking new ground in our coverage of transport. We remain the most prolific and consistent provider of DVDs and trailers for trucks, buses, trams and trolleybuses. The subscriber list is also creeping up and among our top viewing countries there are many surprises with No2 place going to Vietnam, 8/10 top 10 clips are on lorries with 2 on buses, both Mansfield. At No3 is a clip on trucks in Hong Kong and at No 2 is Immingham trucks. Trams and trolleys don''t even figure in any meaningful way other than being my own hobby along with buses and lorries. We cannot be complacent please continue to click on the adverts whenever you can and support the companies which advertise on our sites. The placement are now more reliable and pertinent. Today I managed to complete the DVD of the Peover saga, a pageant put on back in 1969 in our village of Lower Peover, as a churchwarden at St Oswalds in Lower Peover I am proud to be part of the future story of our community. Tonight though we go back to Sarajevo in Bosnia and take a look at some photos from my visit there last week. The DVDs from the Balkans trip are all on our shop which is found on this site. I was at St Oswalds with Mandy this afternoon, we met the tree specialist who was looking at the Copper Beech in the church yard and then Mandy was going to work with the architect and builder to make sure they got the right alignment for the disabled access to the new toilet. Nobody turned up for that meeting, I had to dash off and Mandy locked up as best she could. I got the filling fixed which turned out to be a bit of tooth broken off, lucky I got there early and was seen straight away. We had to get up and pick up the two strange chaps at the B&B in Middlewhich that we had booked, my fellow church warden Keith had dropped them off there yesterday evening. I'm too tired to go into the whole saga, we took them back to St Oswalds to collect their trolleys and saw them on their way. In retrospect given their website and investigating we think that they are just two German lads getting a cheap tour around the world and not monks or whatever. Obtaining money, goods, services by deception is a crime and really what we spent on them could have gone to other better causes. They had expressed an intent on going on to a church in Presbury but they wouldn't have been welcomed there and were directed to go to a church in Macclesfield which never closes it's doors. For what it's worth here is a picture of them at our church. Tomorrow we are having a go at laying out the memorial stones to form the link from path to toilet and I'm also going to try and tie in with the tree man from Knutsford over the Copper Beech tree. Lets now look back at Sarajevo and our trip there starting out at an early hour from Zagreb bus station, the carrier is EuroLines a Bosnian registered bus and crew. We are now in Rep Srpska having passed through the border from Croatia. This was a comfort stop, the drivers gorged themselves with a huge breakfast. Centrotrans is a very large player in the transport scene in Sarajevo and even in Rep Srpska. A school bus parked opposite the cafe. Next a passing truck Although used a lot for road signs in Srpska cyrillic is less pervasive there than twenty years ago. Getting decent shots from a moving coach is very difficult a few shots as we made our way to Bosnia AllBefore we pick up with the Croatia journey let me recount the last couple of hours. I received a telephone call from my fellow church warden Keith who lives some distance away. A couple of German monks had rocked up at church and made their way to the vicarage asking if the could stay either at Jane's or in the church. They have little trailers they haul and appeared to be genuine-ish. They couldn't understand why it would be a problem to stay overnight in our building that still has no functional toilet, washing facilities and must be locked for insurance purposes. Jane has a family, we are only days after a bombing in Manchester and we have no details of their mission, they seemingly have been on the road for 5 years but for what end? Anyway both Keith and I agreed that we'd find them a B&B to stay in standing the cost and setting them up with a meal or at least fish and chips. We are collecting them from Middlewich in the morning and bringing them back to St Oswalds to collect the rest of their possessions What a strange Sunday evening just as we were about to have dinner.. Martin sent a message that he had managed to get on an Air Croatia flight to London this morning, I've no idea how he spent the night although we had comfy seats in the lounge and unlimited spirits and wine, I never saw any beer though. Some ice cream would have been nice I'm sure but perhaps not available at the tiny airport. Anyway back to the trip, the day before our epic bus journey to Sarajevo we made an equally, well almost, journey by bus from Zagreb to Osijek where we had stayed at many years ago just after the war. Our hotel then was covered in bullet holes which surrounded the window to our room. The second city of Croatia it looked down at heel as far as the many people who seemed to have no work but the place had been greatly tidied up and the trams looked a lot better than the spasmodic workings back in the day. All the Pan Tourist buses are actually Arriva whether plain white or in livery, bus or coach. The problems on the BA computer system left Martin sat in the lounge at Zagreb airport, fingers crossed his journey home has resumed, all very frustrating as the rest of the trip went pretty well like clock work. I've been catching up on a number of issues and emails ranging from family history and DNA matches through to EBay sales. There is a lot to look back at and I'm already downloading the results from my filming in the Balkans this week. There should be three DVDs one each on Zagreb, Osijek and Sarajevo. Looking at the Youtube channel we are quickly heading for 30M views as the site seems to be going from strength to strength with subs and views zooming up which is good news as this creats the revenue which goes towards trips like that just completed. I got back home early afternoon as the heat wave in the UK subsided and temperatures seem to have flopped down to those experienced in Bosnia where a pullover and coat were required at times. Whilst catching up on jobs we went out to the bank and farm shop and called in at the church to record the progress this week, looking really good now and the window cleaner Tim Ashbrook has kindly cleaned the bell tower window which was filthy and it now reflects the stained glass window opposite, thanks Tim for declining any payment. Tuesday Mandy is meeting with the builder and architect on site to help level and position the stones being used to link access to the building with the rebuilt path. The lime render on the building looks good and will weather naturally along with the oak beams you can see. I might as well go backwards through the Balkans trip so let's have a look at Sarejevo first, mostly the trams and trolleys were in a pretty appalling state, even a dose of water would have helped. There is a day ticket on all transport available and we got our value out of them but I don't think standard 'tourists' even venture on to the trams , buses or trolleys let alone discover day tickets. We did the run out on the 103 trolley which crosses the inter entity boundary line with Rep Srpska but little activity at the bus station just beyond other than 'rescuing' some lads who had arrived by car share at the wrong place for a connection to Mostar but I told them that it was trolley then tram to the railway station and the bus station was then very close- I hope they found it. The was a lot less use of Cyrillic script in Srpska since I went shortly after the war/siege. How about the new train sets, a pity they can't run through to Zagreb. Dinners ready, more tomorrow! Note ex Instabul buses. An early flight out from Sarajevo on Saturday morning the hop over the mountains a to Zagreb then back to Manchester. It has rained slot more in the night and was cloudy and cool all day the sunny I periods hardly appeared but then thankfully brother did the light rain showers. We were quite sensible today with a couple of refreshment stops and we had given up chasing transport or tickets by tea time. Generally the trolleys and trams in Sarajevo are in a sorry state, even a good wash a I the plentiful water would make a bit of a difference. There are day tickets about although hard to find away from the down town tram terminus, we had a a run out to the end of the tram lines, the thanks button and tutnning circle remains the same and there is still a a bus station but no in refugeClick camp busesClicksorry about the break it all vanished for a while. We had a ride out to republica srbsa at the end of trolley route 103 very little Cyrillic there now. I thought that most of the set up here has gone downwards but no hassles to!Ming and the drivers friendly enough. We had a great meal out last night.
We had a reasonable sleep I think Martin was asleep before me but we both emerged a from our rooms at the same time and feeling a little better for the absence of alcohol yesterday. The buskeft at 6.30 and it turned out to be a long circuitous route but thoroughly interesting and it took us through some amazing mountain passds full of cuttings and tunnels, hydro electric projects rtc. Passing out of Croatia we had spaceport stamp from republica sryska which was a first for us both and I it was interesting to see the rather run down country often on the seedy side with hundreds of scrap yards full of all manner of car and commercial parts. The buses were also pretty rough, we got ages snatched pictures at various bus stations we halted at en route. We got in roughly a on time, the weather was cooler and cloudy and skittle rain, it got lack for a while I in Sarajevo but cleared although lightening in the back griund. We had a rush hour with the trams a and trolleys, they both all looked rough and uncared for other than some trams in local advertising liveries. The hotel is on the tram route right in the centre of the old town and very new and smart, good so to TV with BBC etc, helpful and friendly, we are surrounded by ice cream Parlours and plenty of restaurant s even an Irish a public we'll check out trip adviser before we go to eat. Tomorrow a day hopefully in better weather fingers crossed. Still getting UK news and radio four etc so up to speed with the bombing aftermath.
Somewhat worse for wear this morning after our enjoyable but heavily wined dinner in Zagreb last night. We had to be at the bus station by five thirty thankfully it's only five minutes walk away. The us journey was mainly comfortable but the scenary not that interesting I think we start in a similar direction tomorrow morning on the much longer trip to Sarajevo which should have some good mountain views later o . It's a very long journey starting at six thirty am and arriving there mid afternoon. Osiyek was slot brighter than last time I was there and most of the tram fleet modernised plus a few remaining duewags. Frequencies were much better and Africa buses abound in that region they own one of the largest long and regional bus companies and many are in Africa fleet livery photos next weekend onwards. Mandy isnowkn stringer antibiotics to clear the eye infection before they operate. This puts her Ireland trip back. Well it's been along day and I'm ready for bed we had some delicious ice cream in osiyek but skipped dinner tonight awits so late their packed breakfast is finding better than the normal boiled egg and dry bread efforts, it's been agoodhotel all round for service breakfast and location. here to edit.
It was strange to think that when i took off hundreds of young people were settling in to watch a some America pop singer by the time i I was in the hotel there were around a twenty dead and sixty injured down to another a suicide killer. I think the patience of Europe is being tested as one by one they try invainClick to destroy our normality, i was unlucky in coming up against the polish right wing in Scotland who would support any terrorist if it was an English person being attacked whatever mealy mouthed rubbish they may put through the mincer. I suppose i have Scotland and Poland before even Isis as they affected myself and indirectly Mandy, an unholy alliance involved from Romanian security guards at the commonwealth games who prompted the police into assaulting me with racists remarks to the incident at Oban with the racist west coast driver, as they now have some part state in Scotland it isn't that surprising. Meanwhile in friendly sunny Zagreb life is i assume as normal, always ready to help on the whole but seldom give up season the trams. We had our boots filled with trams covering several decades and lots of them, by the end of the day we had the measure of the system and were travelling out to random terminii. It was forecast to thunder late afternoon but so far it's passed over. We've identified a restaurant near the hotel which itself is well away from the main tourist action, it's a business hotel and fairly quiet at night, right on a tram route.tomorrpw we have an early start with a packed breakfast then bus from the bus station five mins walk away and across the country to the second city Osijek with it tiny tram system in great contrast to the mammoth set up in the capital. Then on Thursday another early start from the samelivery but all the way to sarayevo. We have already purchased the tickets for both trips and have platform and bus number, they were around twenty pounds each which is actually fairly expensive compared to UK bus prices. We are getting the train back to Zagreb tomorrow afternoon. I'm trying to ring Mandy to see how she has got on at the presence of at Leighton hospital near Crewe.
The flight was in early and having no luggage to collect i was off and out of the airport about an hour earlier than expected and caught the bus which must have connected with an earlier flight . The driver dropped me off at a junction very near the hotel although i asked the way from a young lady who looked it up on her phone and pointed me in the right direction but i couldn't see any sign of the hotel do walked on then had to retrace me way, in the dark it just wasn't at all obvious. Anyway i was still there half an hour earlier than expected so caught up with Martin who had arrived late afternoon and had already explored quite a bit. I've seen around six types of tram which is slot more than i e letter with many t3 and ktms about plus rebuilds and their own low floor builds. The curious little line fifteen which connects to the funicular isn't running as it is being rebuilt. As well as exploring on Tuesday we will purchase our tickets for the trip to Osijek and Sarajevo.dit.
