The January figures for ourselves on Youtube reflect the auction of advertising space and still produced a worthwhile income for the archive. I noted that we have nearly 74k following us and that overall the top 10 viewing countries are mostly after the UK in Asia reflecting the several trips I've made ther3e for transport interest. It is a sham,e that we can't put the archives on our channel. I've got through quite a few films stored digitally today but it is still very time consuming. I must get the material being readied for OTA storage on Thursday labelled up. The outstanding editing now surrounds the Bus Spot Ultra on Oxford and the Widnes/ Runcorn production, that will teach me not to announce things ahead of finishing them but I will make some effort with these. For tonight I will return to Oxford for some shots which will perhaps encourage me with the editing.
We had a lovely night at the Clonter Opera Prize last night with friend Sue Mensforth, a surprise choice by the judges although we were in sync with the audience choice. We got home and got the detritus from the picnic sorted by which time it was gone midnight. A late start this morning and then church and afterwards I gave the little IQ a good clean including a first under the bonnet. It will need a major refurbishment when it has gone round the clock by which time it will be of some interest I hope as most will have vanished at present it has done 77k. It has been quite a productive day with several DVD covers complete, in fact all those DVSs ready today will have covers so we can meet any orders coming in. This will leave just the two Bus Spot Ultra productions to come covering Oxford which will now go up to this weeks film and Halton , Widnes and Runcorn which will come after the Oxford film. I've scanned masses more film, the big job then is getting the image films converted to files to store after a minimum tidy up. It has been quite an extensive range scanned, most of the 200' reels will have been finished this weekend. The number of 400' reels sitting on the office shelves seemed to be diminishing thank goodness. This will open the way to a faster turnaround of any OTA material to quatitfy, identify and store digitally plus any material I can get back on a temporary basis from friend John Bishop. John still uses a lot for film shows but we can get some copying done in the mean time. The Winter collection is going to the Scottish archive in the spring so I need to keep the momentum on for that.. Here are the covers most recently completed. We shall be leaving shortly for the Clonter prize, the picnic is all packed. We'll pick up Sue Mensforth on the way through, she is staying at the hotel where Mandy goes swimming. I need to get some of the boxes labelled as to contents as there will be a lot going back to Peter at OTA on Thursday next. No idea of the weather outlook but we shall be hoping for an opportunity to cover Manchester. We have now booked a sales stand at the Boyle St Museum in Manchester for the Spring event, not as big as we once had but it should house all the past years releases. If you want to collect anything there please contact us well in advance so we can be sure to take it along. We need to get the PMP van cleared out. We are thinking of just ditching all the old DVD sales stock which has been offered at huge discounts but has sold very limited numbers, if people really want something it seems they will pay but if it isn't something that interests them all the tea in China won't get it off the shelf. Getting rid of all that will give us more room in the storage shed. I've also booked the Brooklands April event today and Mandy has sent the booking off for Lathalmond. Thats four events confirmed, we shall also expect to be at Detling the same weekend as Brooklands. We want to book at least another 5 shows this year, which if we take Showbus for granted will leave 4 to book. We shall be in Brazil when the Hampshire show with Mid HantsRailway occurs so will miss that this once. Slide show tonight of Oxford |
