So it worked out well, the car park was open this year and the city deserted it was as if the town had been wasted by a nuclear accident or another more virulent pandemic.
We filmed today buses in Derby, mostly at the bus station but also in the town to capture the services which don't use the bus station especially the Notts & Derby fleet which is the sort of low cost version of Trent Barton who as part of the Wellglade group also operate Kinchbus and High Peak. Thankfully there were no would be boxers among the drivers , I'll never forget when a Trent Barton woman stopped her bus walked over the road to the roundabout outside the town hall, climbed up came over and threw a punch which hit my shoulder. Strange days that anybody would feel entitled to do that, I received no follow up from the company after having reported the incident at the bus station. Thus my opinion of Wellglade is another tatty outfit which emerged from deregulation, lumping tatty people and tatty buses with preciously sound operations drags everything down to the lowest level. So it worked out well, the car park was open this year and the city deserted it was as if the town had been wasted by a nuclear accident or another more virulent pandemic. I've not always been known to speak well of Hull and you have only got to walk through it to see the poverty, the huge number of beggars and rough sleepers, addicts etc but The Venue Art Gallery tea shop cafe is superb and I had a super time filming the buses with really friendly drivers well 99.99%, one probably came from far to the east of Clacton, yes look no eyes it was a Stagecoach driver I'll say no more but despite their supposed efforts they still land themselves with some numpties!. Tomorrow I'll be filming at Derby if the weather holds as mild, dry and light cloud. Pretty much what I got at Hull although a bit brighter to start but arrived a little later and as the days pass each day towards spring makes more decent shots possible in sunshine. So our slide show tonight is from Hull. Some rear shots to remind folk I do more than just front three quarter shots. There are around 450,000 photos on our shop links from the PMP Shop front page, it will take you to Smugmug parent company to Flckr. You can downloads images or order prints. Lots to get done as we are out again tomorrow filming buses in Hull so another prompt but not middle of the night departure. As we only have one location for the day we can afford to arrive a liottle bit later and hope for light cloud, dry and not windy, fingers crossed. Our diaries are now quickly filling up and I'm trying to get the remainder of the Bubb family archives copied before we go off to Mexico, there will be several instances of travelling away this year so don't always expect that the orders will go out be return that was just at lock down etc. If I don't film you don't get programmes and in our 70's we are trying to slow a tiny bit. For the bus modellers out there did you know that you can now get models of the On the Bus characters from the 3D shop, they also as of this week have accessories from another manufacturer covering some handy things you didn't know you really always wanted including more realistic motorway barriers. I'm not making any models at the moment but just accumulating bit that will fit what I have or for the final part of the dioramas next winter. Meanwhile lets have a look at the post Stobart scene at Crick |
