We have managed to get all the DVD orders ready although Mandy had to go to the copy shop in Northwich to get some covers done. I've sent out enquiries for two copier leasing companies, these Epson efforts are horrific on break downs and even the Epson web site no longer has supplies of ink for the new machine ordered via Viking, I can't even order anything on Amazon which I suppose isn't a bad thing as I hate them so much, I hope the owner of Amazon doesn't come back from his space flight, perhaps land on Mars and stay there and inflict Amazon and Prime on Martians! So with all the decks cleared I'm now focussing on next weeks trip to Devon and Cornwall, the weather looks very good for Monday and Tuesday with full sunshine then partial sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday, the only minus point is yet more strong breezes, wind noise is worse than anything on a recording but hard finding anything more to do to prevent it with all the dead cats and socks fitted. Anyway here are the new DVDs, the first three already available the other need covers, enough said on that! So remember the last four above depend on the new machine coming very soon, then time to get it set up. Fingers crossed on that, I must add the messages on the shop about the South West trip next week. Lots of problems this week, printer has finally refused to print or recognise the cartridges. The internet is now reconnected on the positive side, just a dodgy joint. I have managed to get the PMP website back to English as opposed to Norwegian how on earth has that happened. Ordered new printer which may come tomorrow, I checked it is compatible with XP and Windows7 but last time it still needed a fix to get it running. Ink for it , the real Epson stuff is out of stock at Epson would you believe but I have sourced some. Mandy is getting the small quantity of covers required to the printer in Northwich first thing, I can then pack them up as Mandy is going to Southern Cemetery with her step brother Peter tomorrow morning. The other problem which I did manage to solve was when I deleted files to free up space on the editing suite computer I must have wiped the project file I was working on and none of the old back ups really worked but eventually I located the back up that I needed so all was well. Really just need to get printer for covers etc sorted, long hand copy for orders! Meanwhile lets get cracking with photos from the Kent and Sussex trip starting at Canterbury. I'll give you the new DVDs tomorrow when they are on the shop. We couldn't get a signal last night, the internet here is very random likewise their electrics and mobile signal, comforting to know that other areas suffer like lower peover. The weather forecasts were hopelessly wrong and it threw it down all day in Brighton but I managed to get shots in Churchill Square from the first bus shelter on the left which has no services stopping and now houses the shelter cleaners kit. So without risking the cameras I was able to carry on, then I went down to old steine and got some shots of the article on the university run which don't serve the town centre. It was still wet though and the cheap Chinese Bromley saved the day once more. After this we came over the coast road back to Eastbourne and I had under an hour to spare which I put to good use and I think I've now got the gist of the bus stops. Eastbourne has lost its old identity and now terminus road is all paved over. The buses are pushed into two side roads but at least it is all easy to get at. I got about twenty minutes of film but not sure if I'll be able to add to it Saturday as today is our seaside sunning day, it has been so long since we were in a prom and today the sky is already starting to clear at breakfast time and !like set to be back on track. Well we shall be home late tonight so next blog will be on Sunday when we can start giving you selections of images fro. Our trip which so far will produce seven programmes.
Well here we are Friday already and we are at waffling place in the East of Sussex. Yesterday we covered Dover docks using yet more locations high above on the edge of the famous white cliffs, it was windy but enough to burn in the sun. I managed to get two programmes out of this visit before we headed west to Folkestone and turned out attention back to buses. There were quite a lot in the new stagecoach livery and generally I thought Folkestone much busier than Maidstone. Wethen crawled through dense traffic to Hastings but time was getting very tight by this stage and thankfully the wind was less at the railway station fungus station where many of the buses werein the new branding although only in local bus livery. I managed to get finished although the very last driver spoilt what had been super friendly day , it was one of the far to the East of Clacton mob, threatening and made a one-man spoiler that sticks in the mind let down stagecoach, the town and wherever he comes from. I thought stagecoach had a handle on these people and covered such matters in their jnduction. Such behaviours have forced many people out of the bus hobby. In context this was one in a whole week of filming. As I advance in years it can be frightening and intimidating. Come to think of it so was the second anonymous phone call we got , I think it was the same tortured soul that rang previously which I judged to be someone who is older and from Lancashire, this again is a rarity but buses magazine got abuse on their Facebook pages. Come people will have noted that I have reinstated comments on our YouTube channel, I will never look at it though as it too attracts the lung brigade. Today we are going to film in Brighton and then see how time is going as we are meeting John bishop in hailsham at tea time? It is wet at the moment but should be mostly dry over the other side of the downs.
The PMP Amazon shop is on pause while we are away and EBay is on holiday settings. You are welcome to use our own shop anytime although orders will not be posted until next Monday, ie a week today. We shall be heading straight down to Kent leaving 4am from Cheshire and should be starting in Maidstone followed by Chatham and Maidstone. We stay over in Kent and Thursday cover trucks at Dover then on to Folkestone and if time permits on to Hastings. The Friday will be Brighton then Eastbourne then Saturday some family time at Eastbourne enjoying sunning ourselves on Eastbourne prom. Returning to our last trip we finished our South Wales amble at Newport, the light there is a bit tricky, auto on the video handles it but not so good for still photography however here are the shots I took as our last blog before our travels in the south east which will be followed the week after next by a week down in Devon and Cornwall so fingers crossed that the summer weather holds good until then. We have a trip to Essex in the offing and East Anglia. Also intended we hope to get up to Scotland and Northern Ireland and eventually to ROI. I've been helping with some old Mini Dv and Hi8 family tapes and am well through them now, Mandy's cousin was kind enough to donate their lightly used Hi8 and Mini Dv cameras so we now have operational two of each. Always good to be on top of these things. The DVD orders are down to a trickle now, unsurprising with the lovely weather, we enjoyed an evening in the sun with our neighbours, there seemed to be an awful lot of empty wine bottles this morning. If I can get a blog done as we travel I will although it may not get to Facebook and will have no photos. I read that the EU will be having a sort of electronic passport on mobile phones, I may need to get a chip for one of Mandys old phones perhaps from Tescos just to show the squiggle square thing. In UK we have the paper version of the vaccination passport. If everything goes well and the new mutations of Corona don't explode we may get an overseas trip for transport, I've got Romania in my sights as something interesting to revisit and not too distant. |
