Yes it was that sort of day meetings, shopping and haircut then home teatime and try to get a start made of the week's bus filming. Trucks come on Sunday with the Gaydon event, no stand this year so going as a punter. Should be warm, possible thundery showers must take brolly . Friday and Saturday I intend to get editing up to date and store recent photos, get 5 DVD covers made, load more film to digital on our shop, update the ebay shop and that's before breakfast - no only joking, I'd like a sit in the garden in the afternoon, mind you there is pruning, tidying up plants, weeding etc to be done. It does look glorious this year. Nothing much be the way of DVD or downloads again so that is one relief. Photos tonight from Swindon yesterday morning A bit jaded a long day out but can tick Swindon and Bath off the to do list. I'm just getting the DVD orders sorted. A couple of days with digital download orders, I wish the fibre optic lines were in, the box is in the village but nobody is linked to it. It takes about 20 minutes to upload at a snails pace, I'll try and get a lot more done Friday/ Saturday as well as filing photos. Swindon was interesting with everything going in or past the bus station and Bath was sunny, nearly warm and the buses looked a little better than usual. Here meanwhile as catch us are shots from Halifax. The bus station at Halifax is still being built, where China builds a thousand miles of railways in a year we can't manage one little bus station. I got there early so got shots of a lot of school services. I Bradford it worked out well as the rebuilding of the bus and train station meant that everything comes out the back side of it, which really isn't being rude as the drivers were all very friendly which of course is more than any Yorkshire PTE would be, enthusiasts are loathed almost as much as passengers. Lets start then with Bradford. A little work done but a few domestic things to do first, shopping was duly done and replacement shorts for those ruined in attempt to re grout the shower floor while Mandy was away. The task was finally accomplished without further loss of clothing. Another sunny day, we had a couple of hours in the sunshine later in the afternoon. I've finished listing and saving the small batch of OTA films from Phil Tatt's collection which was mostly Switzerland trains and trams in 1963. I've also started to edit the NWVRT running day films. I'll let the photos do their own story, the NWVRT family has put on another first class show with record numbers of people and the weather to match.I can't begin to recall all the people who I knew but it was moving on to our previous best in the POPS days at Wedgwood at Burlaston in Staffordshire. I think the best part now is the friendship and genuine interest at the NWVRT and the good relations between all the N West collections and museums which ensures a constant supply of ' new' buses in service on the big days as each supports the others. The effort for all those who put on these running days is a tribute to the hard work of many teams, ours at the NWVRT certainly get regular challenges as ageing buses are as temperamental as ageing film makers! As we continue to wind down the event stock at PMP we are donating the general national and international photos to the NWVRT shop. We are looking into a deal to sell the large number of South Eastern photos from my own collection mainly displayed for sales previously at Detling , Brooklands and Alton etc. The online shop continues to offer prints and digital images as usual. I have been spending some time getting more digital films loaded, when we get full fibre connection this will be much easier. Anyway enough chat, a real belter, a cracker, a corker call it what you wish here is NWVRT in flaming June 2023. The car is loaded and ready to go, we'll be there bight and early to set up our little stand which will have all the recent releases including the launch of our latest Merseyside archive all in colour with rail, ferry and tram scenes. We had a bit of a sit in the garden after I'd done some weeding at the back of our borders which with the fine weather are full of colour and without any rain beating them down it all looks stunning. Mandy got back just before 9pm last night. A big pile of washing is now edging towards ironing. G&T and IPA now the order of the day. Please come and say hello at the Kirkby events tomorrow If anyone has a favourite bus they think should really be modelled and perhaps a member of the various local preserved fleets and handy for in depth photography now is the time to speak with the first two new releases coming in the summer we'll be looking for follow up vehicles under the Brilliant Bus banner. Now for some shots in Birkenhead yesterday and yes the DVDs will be there for Chester, Wrexham, B'head and St Helens. Lots more digital downloads on the shop they are available to download but I haven't had time to add the cover pictures yet. I went for the verruca treatment first thing, by heck it doesn't half hurt!, a couple of Anodin haven't even touched the pain, putting myself through hell again end of June. There were actually three of the little devils which must be treble the pain. Still back now and cracking on with jobs as Mandy is back tonight and its the big day at NWVRT KIrkby this Sunday, everything seems to be done, huge effort by the lads. So sorry I won't be at either MTT events as holiday and family wedding clash. Anyway I quickly move on as so many jobs to continue with. Here are shots at Wrexham on Wednesday Yet another fine but cold and windy day filming this time at Birkenhead and then St Helens. Once more I was glad I took a coat with me. The computer is doing a massive back up operation and this machine which is on Windows 7 has limited USB ports which are all engaged but more photos will appear tomorrow. 9am I have a foot appointment at Northwich which it seems needs micro waving of sorts to rid me of an annoying verruca on my big toe, first I've ever had. I've now edited the films from Chester and Wrexham, tomorrow I'll get the other two out of the way and covers made.
The big job is getting the stock together for the NWVRT running and open day Sunday which promises to be quite a spectacular show with several buses being unveiled. It seems I am now a 'member' of the Online archive and need to get my hear around setting up a Youtube channel for them. As mentioned a big file back up operation ongoing tonight so I've two copies of the last volume of scanned films. It isn't a whole 5 TB albeit that is the capacity but just files getting added in each direction to ensure the two are complete. It also seems I'm getting involved in the Midland publishing operation which produced the Railscene series who are going to dip into the archive and select some scenes to work with selected from the many scans I've made. It is always great to see them getting an airing. I'm going to put a gift box on the website for PMP and OTA as neither of us makes a surplus these days. So photos tomorrow. |
