Using my long time pal John Bishops cine films I am working on a project to unite all the material I have. His later works in the 90s have probably never been shown at all, it all seemed so modern when we first tackled Johns work. This time we shall follow a broad sweep of the corporations bus service albeit we have still to find any early comprehensive film coverage just a few well known snippets. Brighton has been a better bet for rarities in recent years with wonderful wartime scenes coming to light. The problem with the photos has now been resolved, it was a Microsoft photo viewing app problem, the actual images were probably fine all the time so many days of computer time went for nothing and I even bought another drive, mind you a solid state drive solid state should prove more robust for shunting around. I'll have it in the post to the Transport Library and hope that Robin will be able to get them up and running early in the New Year. Well I have been busy on archive features besides the Eastbourne film. There is a strong chance that I'll do something on Amsterdam. Some amazing scenes released by BFI and Eye in Netherlands from earliest cine day with huge lens, dating from the late 1800's to early 1900's the definition is remarkable, I even spotted one in a crude colour format. Meanwhile another look at Yorkshire on Monday this time Castleford. Comments are closed.
