It was under pain of death not to stir before 8am, actually managed to get back off and finally awoke 8.15 some minor brownie points gained. I finished getting all the sales stock replacements copies and in covers etc and got today's DVD orders ready. Then we dropped the post off with Lawrence and went to Aldi in Holmes Chapel then back and changed for the afternoon fund raising concert at the RNCM. It turns out the the mysterious messages I'd got while in Balkans were from the college about a lunch prior to concert , we arrived anyway early as ever and caught a dessert, hopeless trying to communicate with me on the mobile, I struggle to get it working at any time and there is still no signal at our house. The short concert was superb, a young saxophonist Jess Gillan stole the show, someone asked what her next plans were at the drinks reception afterwards, she replied I'm playing at the proms this year, follow that i said! Her mum and dad run a tea shop in Yorkshire. We had a chat with Linda the principle of the college and congratulated her on the talent that they attract and the effort of the whole team from the booking office, restaurant to students and teachers - we have such great concerts there. We sat next to Joyce Kennedy widow of critic Nigel, the only singer this afternoon a superb soprano with a young voice destined for greatness Samantha Clarke a young Felicity Lot perhaps she won the Kennedy Strauss prize last year. We carried on home expecting heavy Friday evening traffic but it was an easy run and went straight to the Dog in Over Peover and had a very nice and very filling meal, draught Dunham Massey session bitter, a bottle of Chilean Merlot, superb. Just catching up and resting. Photos from Widnes yesterday, the DVD now completed. Comments are closed.
