Hi there readers worldwide, the great deluge took a pause today to let folk get on with building their arks for insurance against more rain. The received wisdom is however that the great wet will be followed by the great freeze although it didn't dip much under 4C here today but our today wasn't that early as we managed a lay in until nearly 9am, getting the hang of that quite nicely now although Mandys swimming days have taken something of a knock. We got the DVD and cine orders away, the numbers had crept up overnight, we went down and paid the bill and I had a catch up with our old milkman. I then went on to the bank at Knutsford and cancelled yet another standing order which should have stopped, this was an outfit called Medicare which stemmed from my work era ( sorry for the W word there). Anyway like Orange when they keep taking money which isn't theirs something has to be done, I did win over Orange which is rare indeed for the 'l;ittle' man. I've been working on the cine films all day and have got some gems uploaded on Youtube as well as for onward sale on EBay which include a super trio covering life on board Shell Oil Tankers in the 1960s. This is nicely follwed at some stage by more tankers in the 70s which include the first landing of offshore oil from the North Sea. If this weren't enough the same source has Royal Navy life from 1950's to 60's. Today i've also looked at the footage a superb amateur cine chap took on a 1971 day visit to London, got a close up of Queen riding, guards and Buck palace through to great Battersea funfair shots, a 15 minute treat indeed. There are many more gems going on daily now. I'm keeping an eye on the weather, we might manage a quick trip tomorrow morning. Monday I've penciled in for Leeds. Made contact with someone who makes films old and new like myself but on airliners, might lead to some extra material non aviation he has. Well here are some of the oil tanker shots Comments are closed.
