Greetings to all of you in the UK who have enjoyed a bit of glorious sunshine at times bursting through the mist and for which lingered for much of the day drifting around trying to spoil our bank holiday. We decided to become tourists for the day and endure the bank holiday traffic and visit a NT property, we settled on Penryhn castle near Bangor, I'm not sure if we've ever been before and it was certainly an eye opener. Built by one of the giants of the Welsh slate ( and sugar) trade it is the world's most hideous creation, gothic Victorian transformed into a Norman castle a statement of the worst excesses of money in thew mid 19th century when all the money in the world couldn't stop this heap of all grandaddies of a beach hut from achieving a sickening dark ebony world of brutal furniture and inelegant design lacking at the same time the innovation of places like Cragside. The sun was out and so were the primroses and daffodils but we didn't linger to photograph these as their cafe card reader was broken and we wanted a cream tea so we ended up at Marks & Spencers in Llandudno and had the free cream tea for two Mandy gets from them on her account. I've got another batch of black and white photos ready to get trimmed up, a verty eclectic selection ranging from Ireland to Manchester. There are still many more to go and it's good fun spottling people I know from 1980 such as the bus rally at the potteries with Eric Wain marshalling, now I 've been sponsoring the POPS rally for a great number of years since the original Heart of the Pennines in Halifax folded up. We got the van loaded ready for Mandy and Sue to cover Cobham when I'm on my way back from Mexico in a couple of weeks. Obviously that means we shall not be filming it. I'm still banging on clips on our Youtube channel which is getting more and more hits so thanks and keep up banging away at the adverts, certainly encourages me to post more. A hectic week coming up as I've a few complaints to make against the police in the wake of the Scottish event and as promised it's no more Mr Nice Guy, I shall revenge with havoc and destroy a few careers as I go, may I suggest that each and every photographer amongst you reports any incident as a failure to do so can backfire terribly. Pictures tonight from the Gothic horror of Penryhn. Comments are closed.
