Just had a power cut so had to rescue stuff again It has been a difficult week since the new computer arrived, it is now well bedded in and I', nearly half way through an archive feature looking back at places around Britain in the 1950's. There will also be another Down Your Way out soon ( ish). The bad side of the IT equipment was the failure of a third extension drive. I think the problem has been moving them around. The whole issue is further complicated in that the OTA copy of scanned files is with a chap up in Lytham who is editing a film on trains for the latest incarnation of Railscene, that disc has got some files I need to load back on my spare drive which is only working in skeleton format. I need to get a NAS system up and running but we have paid out huge sums this past month on the high spec computer and programmes. The amount of files lost hasn't really changed as I've been able to either copy again from OTS back up to a degree and I think all scanned cine is intact. What has gone is a years worth of filming over the past 12 months although we have it all o DVD and it can be downloaded and even tweaked back to original quality. Today I filmed at Worcester, got shots of their Platinum jubilee bus, it was very quiet, road works meant a different pattern with all buses coming in via the ring road. I also filmed at Redditch, Kidderminster and Stourbridge, is was almost dead everywhere, the bus services have been decimated. Diamond have a more uniform feel to their fleet but still got on being towed off! Tomorrow we have the jubilee concert at St Oswalds in the village and then lots of different stuff going on, the main thing being the running day at the NWVRT at Kirkby, we'll be having a stand there as sponsors, if you want anything particular ask in advance so we can make sure we have it.
