It took a bit of doing and wading through the weird and wonderful world of the NHS and Holmes Chapel Health Centre. If its your feet which need an operation it seems it's not the NHS so how do poor people cope with that. The doctor there had said if it isn't getting better self refer to the foot department but it turns out they don't have one and when I rang they said that a lady used to come in on the odd day and she could probably find her number. Remember this is agony and involves anesthetic, surgical procedures etc - how would you fancy a random lady from somewhere who sometimes comes in operating on you. I tried the health care people who administrate the contract I have with BUPA but for the money involved I don't think I'll make a claim and in any case I didn't get a written referral as Dr Thorburn had said self refer. All very strange but I found a clinic at Handforth Dean by Marks & Spencers above a gym and they saw me at 11am this morning, I'd tried a couple of others one couldn't see me until Friday and first wanted to do an assessment the other sounded very non professional. We discussed options and really there was only one, to operate. I've had one round of pain killers since but possibly coming up to the next soon. It is already more comfortable although it will be up to 3 months before I can stop tending it, I need to get the dressing changed this Wednesday. I'm truck filming on the Woodhead so got an 8am appointment.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to be in good enough fettle to film at Redditch and Dudley. We are planning a trip to the Borders some time early summer. Bedford and Northampton possibly next weeks list. All depends on other duties and events, this Thursday is the local polio Fellowship 10th anniversary lunch then in the evening the St Oswalds fund raising committee meeting. Friday we need to have the van ready fort Taunton, it was washed today and loaded with rubbish from garage to go to the tip, went at 4pm, it was closed, amazing services plummeting as Britain goes down the pan further. Next week we will probably be in Devon on Monday. I also have the church warden swearing in service and a night at Clonter opera. I must start on the 8mm films this evening, I've promised John Bishop I'll have some urgent reels copied down to him, it's his birthday tomorrow but I got it wrong but at last I sent the card early and not late, nice one Jon - many more of them. We shall be traveling together to South America next Feb, narrowly missing the local national hols around carnival pre Lent. The other big thing was the DVD printer broke down, I decided that the monster from the USA wasn't worth throwing good money after bad and we have a new Epson unit on order to get here next week, I just need to eke out the printed DVDs until then, I've about 40 left. There have mainly been orders by phone today, need thousands to pay for this new kit though, hoping that some of the transport cine film will fetch good money when I list it. Meanwhile some shots of the latest DVD covers and have you seen the latest trailers on Youtube where we have broken the next level of hits and now approaching 13K subs. The subscription channel itself is still under construction, I'll promote it when I've over 30 films listed. The new DVDs are all on our shop. Comments are closed.
