After the failure of last nights narrative on the blog I hesitate to tell you too much but then there isn't as much news today. The main story id of the terrific thunderstorm we had mid afternoon which came over as I was tackling rewiring the roses at the back. I'd got the wire supports that I located in the garden centre yesterday afternoon between Hereford and Gloucester which are a bitch to knock in to hard mortar but do the job splendidly. Anyway with dead headed roes, fixtures, wire and ties all over the place not to mention the ladders I had to finally abandon the work as the waters became torrential and it began to flood down the side of the house which I addressed by sweeping the water away to the front where it could flow down the drive to the road. I had time before the storm to plant out the flowers I'd purchased at the Herefordshire garden centre in between eating cheery cheescake and selecting some great agricultural themed cards for various occasions, Mandy likes to have a stock which is always handy in case of forgotten birthdays etc. So some work achieved and some to finish. One thing I did after having a shower was to finish the sound on the fourth of the northern Scottish social archive DVDs under the theme 'Scenes you may remember', based largely on the Winter family collection which is vested in the PMP archive looked after in Sussex by John Bishop and it has a great mix of 1960s golfing, bowls, Aberdeen seafront building work, coach trips and much more. I managed to put some recent still photos ijnm my archive and then upload to our Smugmug site the Southdown 100, Brighton, London and Durham photos - you can purchase prints from the site from just 50p each and you can get there via the links page on this site. Our fried Sue has just arrived, she is staying overnight, a bottle of Fleurie has been selected for dinner which is Welsh Lamb. Some more shots from the Southdown 100 event and I must dash!
