Yes it had to happen eventually a hot sunny Heaton Park Trans Lancs rally in Manchester, matter of fact its still pretty warm this evening. I can't imagine an early repeat but in a couple of weeks at Showbus would be nice if anyone is listeningl. The bad news that I did my back in whilst setting up early today at Heaton Park, I didn't have the pain killers with me but I've now had a couple of Tramadols ans anti inflammatories and I'll take Diazapin tonight before I go to bed, the object is to prevent the back musles going into too much spasm plus of course stopping it hurting. When I get the DVD edited and master burnt I'll have a bit of a sit down, I think the soaps are on tonight as Monday its back to wretched football as if we haven't had enough sport already. It was a bit misty at the park first thing but the sun soon burnt through, the attendance looked better bolstered by lots of public enjoying the sunshine, the bus held up ok although no records broken but the commercials were almost eliminated and they once had quite a good turn our, there are more truck events these days which sees them going to dedicated events rather than joining the buses. There were a few shown for the first time in Manchester, certainly a good mix of age ranges, friendly as ever and frustrating as the usual herberts get in the way when a whole lot of people have been on a spot for ages then someone walks straight in front and sets up plus walks out towards each passing vehicle, there must be pills for that sort of behaviour as nothing else seems to work. Sales were just about tolerable and probably the worst at the event since the last great wash out but as its local overheads aren't so bad. The number of stands was much less than normal but that did little to help matters. I couldn't walk very far without stopping for chats and I was gone a while as Mandy was trying to contact me as she needed to go to the you know where, anyway we survived the days and met lots of friends and regulars. Last night I did finish making both York and Harrogate DVDs so adding Heaton Park later, all are on our shop and I loaded the latest list at the end of the week. Photos from todays event.

Glad you had a good time. The weather did treat us more kindly than in some recent years. Youre right about the low numbers of commercials that came this year. A notable exception was Richard Cresswell who brought one of his superb AECs and mentioned that it was 12 years since his last appearance at Heaton Park. This event is never going to have a massive lorry following but it does have its cheerful loyal supporters. We will have certainly lost a few lorries this year to the Malpas Event thats not far away due to a date clash which only occurs about once in every 7 or so years. Hope your back's improving.
