Yes we head east to Colchester, Britains oldest town . I didn't start filming in video until the mid 90s but we have lots of interesting archive material taking us back to the 1940s and then some shots taken in three visits spanning deregulation in 1986 through to the early 1990's which is thanks to Tim Bubb and his family. Particularly poignant as Tim's wife Pauline who accompanied the lads to many a rally in their London GS recently passed away. We would be at her funeral on Tuesday but it is the day of my hospital procedure. I've already copied a lot of the archive material on to the computer and am already into the 1990's, given a fair wind I may even have the whole project wrapped up by tomorrow. The first orders are coming through for our Cambridge visit, how I wish I had lots f archives on bother Oxford and Cambridge but who knows what is in the offing. I'm now waiting for the replacement cine film scanner to arrive from China. A wild wet and windy day with flurries of hail, rain and snow. I'm free to film on Wed Thurs and Friday this coming week, fingers crossed it will be around Cheshire Wed and up to Newcastle on Thursday but changes come fast and furious at the moment. I'm just copying the 1996 visit to Colchester and am reminded yet again of the wonderful colour saturation on the Mini Dv format, perhaps the best that was achieved and the modern digital reproduction always seems rather cold to me. I think given all this tonights slide show should take us to Essex. What a wonderful afternoon looking at the great array of independents, Norfolks, Osbornes, Hedingham etc. Comments are closed.
