Lots of very nice people and no hassles filming in South Wales , they must lack the migrant labour of Scotland or perhaps they are just a little more sane down there. We set off about 6.30 am and were at Merthyr having a brew and bacon sarnies by 9.15 and then as the sky lightened I made good progress with the filming although there were road works going on all around and a compressor powering a hose didn't help, eventually the sun made it out just as I was ready to make a move. Very much Stagecoach territory these days as the independent sector continues to dwindle which is strange as elsewhere the opposite has been true. Not a decker in sight I'm afraid but Stagecoach lovers will be happy. The next stop with Pontypridd, another brew and a giant cake at the bus station cafe, the temperature was plumetting all the time but I got some nice bus station shot both from above on the high level car park and at ground level. NAT and Stagecoach have the lions share these days, Pontypridd changes operators more than anywhere else other perhaps than York.Again friendly drivers all the way and yet more of the same at Blackwood where i concluded my filming, frozen , what has happened to spring. The head of the valleys road is getting longer but still much to be done, the primroses were out as of course were the daffodils. I'm editing the transport heritage DVD of Scandinavia May 2000 then Stockholm 2000. Then tomorrow I may get today's South wales footage sorted. Shots from Merthyr below. Comments are closed.
