I was up and out after the rush hour, we'd had a good sleep though and no wonder after such a moorish meal last night and Chilean Merlot to wash it down, you can't beat a shoulder of lamb from our local butcher. I had a long chat with my friend John Bishop who with a fair wind and good fortune should be moving home in November. Yesterday we declared the Irish trip a goer and the ferry is now booked and our friends Sean and Hil will put us up the last two nights. The weather forecast as befits the emerald isle is a little changeable but doesn't look too bad and we may even have a bit of sunshine here and there but a shocking trip over raining all the way. Stena via Holyhead as usual then straight on to Galway. So this morning I went the short distance to Stockport on a lovely hot sunny morning and I already knew that road works had changed the bus routing and this meant that most trips were via Mersey Square and this with light in the right direction and oodles of new Stagecoach buses provided a real treat and what a friendly bunch of drivers there was, had a chat with several while they waited at the lights opposite the Plaza cinema which fort cinema buffs is a must. This will of course provide the slide show for this evening and I'm preparing the DVD as I type. After Stockport I moved on to a slightly more cloudy Ashton and nowadays to find the bus station you can just follow the tram line and it ends a short distance from the interchange and there is plenty of free parking in the maze of side streets. The lovely chap who used to be in charge at the bus station looks to have retired and there was a young man in charge, I had to use my GMPTE approval letter and he still rang up to check but they vouched for my being kosher and he was actually quite polite just worried as it was his first week in his new job. Lots more Stagecoach newbies at Ashton plus a few old wrecks from First. When I got back I cut the lawns, strimmed the edges, cleaned up and dead headed plants, fed plants, swept up etc. It dieting day today , nice fruit mix for dinner cleans the pallet and your insides!
