Up at 5am and over to Cleethorpes, rotten weather and at 6.40 the traffic was at a standstill going over past Leeds, there seems to be no avoidance even at that early hour. Anyway I had plenty of time in hand and was soon flying down to Grimsby and past Immingham wondering how the new link road was coming along. As I was really early I went into Cleethorpes town centre, not that there is much of it to see but there was a new Costa Coffee so had breakfast there with a newspaper. Time passed relatively quickly and I drove down to Grimsby Rd and got a parking spot near the Home Cinema/Model Railway shop. Phil's wife opened up, drew me a map of sorts, good job I had the post code plus one call back to check as I ended up on the wrong road and wrong house but it wasn't far away and we were soon in the garage rearranging doors etc as he has work on the house in progress. I did hear that some tidying up had already taken place! Anyway I ferreted away and soon had quite a stack of films piled up which we transferred to my little Tardis car which soaks up an amazing amount considering it is tiny. Then I went back down to the shop, Phil caught me up and I had a root through another of the storage areas and picked out another ten reels to add to the 32 I'd already loaded. I decided that I'd best call it a day then and after a welcome brew I set off back towards Immingham. The weather at this point was sunny with showers so I thought I'd take a derive into Immingham industrial sites and look at the new road's progress. There has been a lot of work, a brand new roundabout will be a good spot eventually and there will be somewhere to park as they'll need to give access to a vets premises nearby. At the moment with the rain all about was mud albeit seeded but i had to stick to a traffic island and didn't want any fuss by crossing barrier tape. I did don my hi-vis vest and blended in among the many workers around. The weather went downhill fast to wet and very windy and with a rare old chill factor. I moved back up to the old VOSA roundabout by the railway bridge and did manage to finish off the filming and I suspect that that bridge will be replaced by another stretch of road nearby so worth the effort getting wet. Time was now marching on, got stuck before Leeds then crept over the M62 and then got stuck on the M60 which was probably better than the jam on the M6 south but then I needed fuel, a hazard of small cars, small tanks. I've downloaded all the DVD and cine film orders and attended to them plus had a spot of telly watching. Tomorrow we have to get a bulb replaced on the PMP van and have a Halle concert in Manchester in the afternoon. Need to check on weather for filming Thursday and Friday. Also need to unload the reels from my car in the morning, no rest for the wicked as they say. I edited the Big Orange last night, need to do the cover. Need to edit Bury and Oldham films plus today's trucks. Photos from Immingham. Comments are closed.
