Mandy had her Polio Fellowship meeting at Ellesmere Port this afternoon and I had a full day of filming scheduled as the cold weather started to close in. I got to Chester noting a light overnight snowfall as I got nearer the city. It was cloudy ok but ominous signs of bright patches despite the weather forecast of rain then cloud through to afternoon then brightening up. I did quite well at the stops near Marks & Spencers and near the wretched taxi rank which does its best to obstruct the buses as they back into the road even when there are obviously no places at the rank. There was a nice variety of buses about with Routemaster joining the fray amidst the multi colours of GHA, Arrowbrook, Jones, Aintree etc plus the more usual Stagecoach and Arriva. I'd managed to get my free parking space round the back of the fire station, they've reduced the parking there one of the very few spots for those in the know. The new bus station construction looks as if its proceeding slowly. Anyway as the light came through I needed to cover the routes into the bus station by the cathedral and town hall, the road in though past the construction work on the old cinema was blocked and no buses to be seen. The plonker on the closure barrier said they were coming in at the next entrance but I asked the chap in the barrier hut and it seems that the closure is Tuesday and Thursdays for a month, the light for the buses coming off the ring road was hopeless so without further ado I gave up for buses today and set off down the main road past Wrexham to the A483/A5 near Oswestry, a spot where I've film,ed the lorries a few times and sure enough I managed to eke out a DVD from my rather chilly spot there but at least its next to a truck stop and services with a cafe. I'm still going to do the next roundabout by the truck stop further down but I'll try and get a day designated for trucks, I find jumping from one thing to another doesn't really work very well. We are eating out courtesy 50% off John Lees brewery tonight at the Golden Pheasant, it isn't any great shakes there these days but is near and we drink there on a Thursday anyway. Tomorrow is up in the air re filming pending weather and how soon they get the warranty work on my car done or we can just leave it and pick it up later on if Mandy is free. I'll bring you images from Chester when the DVD is ready Comments are closed.
