Greetings to our thousands of kind readers scattered around the world. Here in Sri Lanka we are having a delicious evening meal at the ozo hotel it doesn't get everything right but two evenings in a row and at buffets to boot I've managed to cobble together a good meal tonight it's been medallions of beef with roast pots and market veg, I had to drain the juices fro m the beef dish to get a gravy but it worked just fine. Starters were a different kettle of fish who ch as astute readers will know I'd not my thing so I had spicy stuff with pineapple chunks smothered in Parmesan cheese not everybody's first choice but it really was a small choice which wasn't fish and no cheese either , the bread was yesterday's stale stuff left to garden for a couple of days it's still sitting there even after I suggested it would be better binned rather than used as a negative advertisement. Lots of japs arrived who are eating with gusto all the bits other people didn't want. We've been following the news of co ruse and fully expect internment for ethnics to have been introduced , Martin is afraid he may have to shave off his beard and do scarf the towel that is wrapped round his head which was keeping the sun off armed with the buffet knife he caused a little alarm to some American tourists but then seeing as arf the guests are mbo's one even then with sunglasses I guess we are all afraid. No not turning racist heaven forbid and I'm certainly not turning into a ukip person but perhaps a survey of suitable uncomfortable islands may be of use shortly when we sift though the population perhaps modelled on the people's democratic republic of Australia who really know how to beat North Korea at their own game. Hong Kong rumbles on but here in Sri Lanka they believe in strong government and everybody is free to vote for the most popular Buddhist candidates especially those belonging to the government. Actually very no ve people throughout our trip and the country has made great strides since my 1980 visit the health education roads etc although the buses are similar as are the railways. On the way back from Halle where we went today down south in tourist land where the nudist beaches were full we went via the new motorway coach service and came back on the minibus on the old road which passed through bentota where we stayed in 1980 and obviously the tsunami reeked havoc and there is still a lot of evidence of the destruction caused . Getting nearer Colombo out of the dark with the fruit bats soaring overhead came lumering into site was the unmistakable shape of an at latest and unbelievably followed ten seconds later by a metro bus with no chance whatsoever off catching them and this the last evening of our trip why really was a bit of a downer but at least we can confirm that they were on routers 100 and 130 respectively and good luck to all those who follow in our footsteps may they miss the dog muck and not get hit by passing cars as I did near the hotel down a small road after dropping off by our Toyota cruiser. Flights home in the morning via Dubai Martin and I split flights there I hope to blog late evening UK time so signing off for now and as tony Hancock said cq cq anybody out there.
